Ibiza Cupra/Fabia vRS gear ratios??

Hi guys, ever since buying my Cupra, I've been wondering why the wife's Fabia feels MUCH more responsive low down. The slightly larger turbo and front mount can't make THAT much difference, surely.

In the Fabia, 1400 rpm is the equivalent to 1800rpm in the Ibiza. Even though I am running 70bhp more in the Ibiza, low down the Fabia feels so much quicker, responsive and generally nicer to drive. Even with the remap on the Cupra.

Does anyone know which gear ratios are in which? To complicate matters, my mate has a Fabia vRS with gear ratios which are similar to the Ibiza...

The Ibiza is an old shape on an 06 plate - it doesn't have a silver bottom edge to the steering wheel or stereo buttons on it.

The Fabia has the updated rear light clusters and is on a 54 plate...

The way I feel at the moment, I'm very tempted to stick as couple of £k on the credit card and swap gearboxes... I never go over 100mph anyways, so its a waste having all that top end.

But the cars show different revs at different speeds???

In sixth the Fabia has 250rpm more than the Ibiza at any speed...

The Fabia will have the short ratio box on it that Skoda started using from around the 04 era. My engine conversion in my Fabia is from an 04 car, and it has the short ratio box. Works out in sixth roughly as

60mph 2100 rpm
80mph 2600 rpm
100mph 3100 rpm
120mph 3600 rpm
140mph 4100 rpm

So, at 140 (when I wuss out) its still got a little rev range to play with. By comparsion the 53 fabias came out with a box capable of less than 2000rpm at 80mph in sixth. But sometimes I think having the shorter box is better for pickup and in gear progress. The longer box on your Cupra might be a very slight hindrance, but I would have thought that +70bhp would overcome that. ;)

Hope this in some way helps. :)
