Ibiza - 2.0 TDI CR FR

Hi.

Need some assistance regarding a possible purchase within the next month or two.

Have been looking at various cars recently, and came across the stats on a Seat Ibiza TDI CR FR. 0-60 in 8.2 seconds and amazingly still does 47MPG?! Sounds perfect for me personally. Currently have a Fiesta ST which does 0-60 in 7.9 but only about 35MPG.

Would be interested to know if there are any issues on the Ibiza TDI CR FR models, or are people generally happy with it? Have checked out Audi A3 or VW Golfs, but as desirable as they are they seem to have lots of reliability issues from actual driver reviews, but have found very few comments on Ibiza Seats, in particular the TDI CR FR I've currently set my eyes on. So would be extremely appreciative of any comments known about this model.

Seems to be only a page of 5 door 2.0 TDI CR FR models in the whole country on autotrader! Must be a good sign of happy drivers....

Also looking at the following, but curious to know why it looks so different to other models (black and white on both body and alloys, with a centre exhaust) - doesn't seem to have any extra info such as special edition or something. Can anyone shed some light on the exact model on this?

(sorry just remove the dot after the first w)

Thanks very much in advance

Thats just an FR that's been attacked by a chav! Not my cup of tea at all, but definitely wasn't done up like that by SEAT. Probably be a few thing void on the warranty with all those modifications.

From what I've read the 2.0 CR TDI seems to be a good engine, and gives less bother than the 1.6 CR TDI, and 47mpg sounds like a realistic target.

You should be able to get the 47mpg it quotes, but don't expect it if you put your foot down constantly, haha. But still, the amount of fun you get out of the car makes you really not care about mpg :D

I think most people are dead happy with theirs, i certainly am!

Don't really know of many issues people have had, i think there's been a few DPF related problems, but nothing major :)

kool - like the look of a Bocanegra but need five seats for a forthcoming 'family' - so the days of speeding round in a hot hatch are over (for now) - will still be happy to have a 5dr FR doing 8.2 seconds though :)

The 3dr is 8.2 seconds to 60. Surely the 5dr will be slightly slower?

I have the 3dr FR 2.0. It's frickin' awesome. And 47 is easily achievable. I would of been happier with 60 though, but it's just not possible.

just double checked, think I got the stats wrong?

On parkers it says 0-60 in 7.9seconds with 60 MPG ? This is based on an 09 plate. But on Autotrader stats for both 3 and 5dr it's stating 7.2 seconds with 47 urban, 70 extra urban and 60 combined MPG.

One thing I've been reading about is this DPF issue mentioned, this may be a problem for me as we do a lot of short trips and just once or twice a week a journey on the motorway of over 100miles. So the idea of short journeys clogging up the DPF is a concern. I'm really stuck now on what car to choose, or even try looking at a petrol one now. But the main reason I've looked at a new car is for more MPG (which of course means looking at diesels) hmmmmmmmmmmm

diesels only return good mpg if you let them warm up properly if you dont from my experience they can be worse....i drive a petrol cupra and i regularly get 30+ mpg about town and up to 46 on my commute......i had a 1.6 tdci fiesta before and and got roughly the same......my wee bro has a 5 dr fabia2 1.4 tdci not the quickest car but i borrowed his car for a week and got 62mpg on my commute. so i now steal his motor when im on night shift :p

Doubt you'll get DPF issues doing that. I do 9 miles each way to work and back 5 days a week, yes I get a few passive regens but never had a light on. A few of the 1.6's seemed to have regular lights on, but even if you do get a light, just drive accordingly and it disappears.

I think the 7.2 is the 3 door and 7.9 is the 5............................I think

u should definately invest in one! love my 2tdi fr, get around 46.5mpg but i could probably get more if I drived a bit more efficiently. DPF hasnt ever been a problem with me, i do a mixture of trips around town and motorway journeys and its fine. i think the cars fuel efficient and fun to drive, i used to have a fiesta as well, i do miss it but the FR is much easier to drive and is a comfier drive

good luck choosing :)

No way... not the TDi. The petrol TSi might be that quick though.

According to the Seat My11 spec for the FR TDi, it's 8.3 seconds for both the 3dr and 5dr.

I get 47MPG driving REALLY carefully and about 43 if I have fun. I think you only get really good MPG downhill... with a back-wind... on a flat... at 40Mph...

You won't get any DPF issues if you do a decent long journey once a week.

Yeah your right, it is 8.3, although I did do a 6.8 on dynolicious with lots of wheelspin in second

No idea if it's set up right though :cartman:

I've driven Fiesta ST, decent car, but quite frankly the 2.0 nasp is a wet fart of an engine. The 2.0 turbo diesel will feel a hell of alot faster, even if the 0-60 times don't suggest it is.

I just got 57mpg in a 200bhp mk4 cupra tdi. If you drive a diesel just off boost then the mpg average goes through the roof [B)]

Filled up today with Vpower and did a 150 mile+ journey. Kept the speed to a steady 60 - 65 where possible and a few blips to overtake lorries etc.

Reset the MPG computer and after 77 miles I was getting.....

My computer reads really high like that on the first few bars. But then plummets through the floor after the first bar has gone. I've proven this consistently now on my FR.

Basically for the first 100 miles it looks as though I'll easily get a 500 mile tank, but as soon as the first bar goes the range drops significantly and I can never get more tan 450 miles to a full unvented tank of diesel.

Yep mines the same, but thought i'd post the pics as I don't see those numbers very often
