Ibiza 1.9TDi problems

Hi to all.

We have a three year old Ibiza 1.9 TDi SE, and over th epast few months we have noticed 'flat spots' appearing in its performance.

On rare occasions the engine seems to have nothing to give - and will produce no decent power during a journey - struggling to get to 70 mph( even when changing down).

This is very infrequent, but a little off putting? The car is great, and is serviced regularly.

Does anyone know if we use 'REDEX' will this clean the diesel injectors? Could this be the problem??

Thanks

hi and welcome... :)

As for the problem you mention, sounds like the car's entering limp mode on occassion. There are many possible cause but the one I would bet on is too much soot on the vnt mechanism of the turbo causing it to not boost enough and enter limp mode.
This can be easily seen with VAG COM.
Probably not the injectors, but always nice to keep them clean. I've used the REDEX stuff, but IMHO I would rather try using BP ultimate for a month.

wouldnt a limp mode problem be more noticable? ie all the performance then next to nothing immediatly.

Does the thing accelerate ok or does it seem to loose puff above 2 or 3k rpm? Are the flat spots drivable through, so after a certain rpm they go away?

Agreed with paulo about redex mind :)
