Hi all,

Some of you may remember me from a few years ago and that I hang around with Mark Sheerin..... (Please don't hold that against me!) I used to own a Mk1 Leon Cupra and then a Leon Cupra R. Its fantastic to see Seatcupra.net still going strong and from strength to strength. Big respect to M0rk and Zboyd for that and to everyone else involved.

Anyway, my better half has decided to buy a 56 plate Ibiza 1.9TDI DAB Sport in Crono Yellow from our local dealer (Nidd Vale Motors in Harrogate). Picking it up this week. It seems to be a very nice car. Ticks a lot of boxes for her needs, looks the part, but cheap to run etc. Doing a search on these forums is there anything we need to know about the car?

Seemingly the car may only have 4 speakers in the front and nothing in the rear? (its a 3 door btw) Seems a bit odd for a car that is been sold based on its ICE.

Secondly, from what I have read, the car may not have an alarm?? I am hoping that is not correct.

Finally, and this is probably a personal concern, she is actually moving from a Fabia VRS to this. As anyone made a jump downwards in power such as this? What are your experiences.
In "real world" driving I suspect its not a huge issue and something that probably could be sorted with a quick trip to our nearest Revo Dealer.
She is trading the VRS in as its due to have lot of work done - major service, MOT, 4 new tyre, suspension bushes to be replaced.

I see misting of lights is still an issue, but I guess thats just a Seat quirk!

Any tips or advice that anyone can offer would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Magnus

i have an ibiza sportrider tdi 100bhp they look great and it goes great, put it like this the guy who i sometimes see on my way home from work in his blue fiesta ST does not try to overtake me anymore as it cant match mine for torque!
as for the vRS i tailed one up to a high speed without it pulling away from me,
i must stress I DO NOT drive like this all the time as the cost of fuel is to high to waste! and i like to keep my licence!

I have the formula sport 1.4 100 and it has been fine so far. It is literally the same car as the skoda but it will be a lack of power and if that gets a problem you always have the option of a remap which can bring it up to vrs power.

My formula sport has 6 speakers in it so i think the dab should do aswell.

Have you tried to sell the skoda because i am sure people on here would be interested in paying the price even though it needs a big service, unless they are doing a good deal for you at the dealer.

Thanks for the info guys. I guess its probably me who has the issue with her buying a less powerful car..... after all, I am the one that drives the "old mans" car. Hers was a bit of fun at weekends when I got chance to use it.

At the end of day, if she is happy with it then thats all that counts. (The Skoda was far too quick for anyway ;) ) And as you say, a remap is always an option!

Not thought about selling it privately to be honest - wasn't sure if there iwas any market for them given the current climate.
