Ibiza 1.9 TDi S 160K miles Loss of Power

Ok Weird problem was doing about 3.5k revs in Pedro the other morning when it was like i had removed my foot from the accelerator and immediatly put it back to the floor. However the speed was slowly increasing but the revs were dropping. This was in 5th gear.

I can/could rev it to the red line in all gears 1 - 4 but in 5th gear the var will not now rev over 3k revs, and seems very hesitaint in moving.

Could any one come up with some ideas please? Apart from a small bird wedged into the opening that feeds the intercooler I can not see any issues with pipes.

The car has done 160,000 miles I am praying it isnt the turbo.

Could be a boost leak or sensor failure.

Have a look under the bonnet for any disconnected/split pipes.

Logging with Vag com is the easiest way to diagnose.

what speed are you doing at 3.5k rpm in 5th? must be pretty high...

sounds like a blocked fuel filter or dirty MAF, we have had both and is the sort of problems we got.
