Hi folks,

after having driven SWMBOs Ibiza Sport for a few months now, I'm finding it annoyingly slow.

Any suggestions on how to give it a little more "go"...:)

(not too expensive either please)

There is no cheap fix to getting more speed out of a NA petrol.

If you really want more poke, the most cost effective option will be to save up for a different car and upgrade

Not an option I'm afraid - I bought this Ibiza as a cat C (cheap) and whilst it now looks really good, it's slow compared to my Octy (which is what SWMBO is comparing it to)

and with the current economic climate, we can't afford to upgrade, as it will be worth f*** all...:(

Never mind - at least it works!

I have the same car, and I agree it's not hugely fast, but then it's faster than alot of other 1.4's.

Just out of interest, what could be done, money being no object, that could seriously change the performance? Other than getting a new engine...

If money is not an issue then a Sport Air Filter & Full Exhaust System & ECU Remapping can grand you 10-12 hp.

Yes I have considered all those things, however I meant is there anything that can be done to gain 30 bhp or so?

Just because in these sort of threads the answer always seems to be, buy another car! I'm curious to know what can be done with alot of money...

I know a MK3 1.400 (at least started as one - now 1600cc) with more than 190hp NA tuned.

Camshafts, Stroker kit, Custom Manifolds, Parallel ECU etc.

But we are talking about a great amount of money spent on his car, a lot of working hours (months) and experiments.

i've had filter panel, some induction piping, all new coilpacks and plugs, and catback. I'd say it now picks up quicker than before.

Yeah, I'm planning to keep the car for at least a couple of years so I'll go down the induction/exhaust type route. Interestingly I drove a mates Peugeot 206 1.4 and it was a hell of a lot slower than mine!
