I just serviced mine the other weekend for less than £40.

Just bought the parts from Seat and done it myself, only took 40mins.

Buying from the dealer keeps my warranty valid.

Self servicing doesnt keep your warranty even if you use gen parts (sorry if I miss understood what you meant).

The servicing has to be carried out by a VAT registered garage.

Oh well then! I'll get my mates Garage to stamp my book when I go to sell or have a problem which means it has to go back to them....

You will need a stamp and a VAT receipt to verify history, however I have only seen a few people ask for the receipt.

Indeed it is, but i would have thought it would have been wiser to a) ask us before you booked it in, b) shopped around for the best price, and/or c) asked the garage how much they were going to charge you. Seems like common sense to me :confused:
