My mk4 TDI has developed loud squeeking not particularly high pitched almost like bedsprings or loose floor boards very annoying. Its audible in the cockpit and occurs when im changing through the gears as well as going over bumps; it seems to be coming from the front suspension. Is this the sign of knackered springs as i do pump my tyres quite hard or could it be the creaking of of a loose gearbox or engine mounts. The car drives and steers as well as ever and when i compressed one corner it rose up once and never bounced around. Is it possible to spray up your springs to get rid of any noise.

Cheers

Experience the same thing with my car every winter, its like an old bed on wheels:) I just live with it and have done for 5 yrs! Theres probably a solution but it doesn't really bother me as it goes away eventually. No help I know but it is kinda common, I think.

dont know much about that model, but a common squeak could be the anti roll bar liks (if it as them lol!!) you could spray WD40 on the rubber joints behind the wheel and see if it goes away!!

First time I experienced the squeeking I did exactly as you said, WD40 suspension, roll bar, everything in sight and that didn't solve it for me. Might a missed it maybe, but as I say I live with it now and turn the radio up:)
