I think my Cupra's Dead

Took my 2002 20VT Cupra to the garage last week after the engine management light came on. Got a list of codes (but can't remember most of the numbers):

misfire cyl 1 and lean
random/multiple misfire
cam sensor error
17705(?) pressure loss between turbo and throttle body

Had a look at the hoses at the weekend and noticed I've got oil bleeding from the hose going into the intercooler. I'm guessing this is pretty bad.

Any ideas guys

Pressure drop between turbo and throttle body. VAG.COM should say (Check DV) Which there may be a leak there somewhere. Could be a wrong spring for that.

I was getting that error message when my MAF died. But with the other symptoms too, I would have thought the coil packs were more likely?

All the coil packs have been changed as well as plugs. I wouldn't have thought coils going would cause the ecu to detect a pressure drop either:confused:

Snoopie, what do you mean by a wrong spring?

One of them yeah? The guy at the garage seemed to think that having 17705 error was causing the rest which I suppose is feesable (sp)

Not sure if that would cause a misfire error but suppose its possible! Have you still got the stock Bosch DV on? If so get an upgrade such as the Forge 007p, well worth it!

No, totally standard. I did have a problem last year giving me similar symptoms. It thurned out to be a split hose off the inlet manifold underneath a perforated plastic panel.

Can't see that the timing would be out as I've never had any of the timing system in bits. Car has done 45k by the way

Any thoughts on the pressure drop? I know it's a difficult one to answer but is it more likely to be a split hose rather than a leak in the turbo DV etc. Is the oil in the inlet hose to the intercooler normal?

Is it posible it could be a boost regulator problem, related to the N75 valve or something like that controlling the wastegate opening too early and causing the pressure drop? I still wouldn't rule out a split diaphagm in the DV!

Expect to see oil in most induction pipes after hard driving!

A split hose by the sound of it. My pressure drop was down to the wrong spring in my dump valve.

Sorry to keep this dragging on guys but I'm trying to narrow down the possibilities!

When I'm sitting with the engine ticking over the the whole car rocks. If I lift the revs to around 1200rpm the tickover evens out with just the occasional little skip that is hardly noticable. I regularly follow a guy home from work who has a 53 plate LC and I have no problem chasing him down once my revs have lifted from about 2000rpm.

Do these symptoms sacream knackered DV to anyone.

Cheers for all the help so far guys

17705 error is totally unrelated to the misfire error. 17705 indicates a leak from hoses or dv. Not sure about the misfiring. Hope you get it sorted.

17705 Is a pressure drop anywhere between the turbo and throttle valve. It doesn't always mean it's a leaking hose or DV though ;)
