I have already tried to install an aftermarket stereo before and failed. I would appreciate any and all advice, as I haven't been able to find a guide for this car.
Currently I have an RNS310 and afaik it's what the car came with from factory. I would love to upgrade though. For a replacement, I was looking at this Kenwood here:
The one time I tried to do it, it was with a Pioneer unit. I pulled out the RNS no problem, connected up the Pioneer and... nothing. It didn't light up, respond to me pressing buttons, nothing. I watched some youtube videos and read comments some people have already made here, and it seemed like just plug-and-play, but it didn't seem to in my case... I've also seen some talk about having to wire the switching power to the radio from one of the fuses in the fusebox? I didn't do that and it might be the cause of why my radio didn't turn on... Or maybe not connecting the handbrake cable was at fault? Tbh I don't even really know where it is and wasn't able to find any information on it either... I'm pretty positive my cable harnesses were not at fault here, since the Pioneer itself came with an ISO adapter harness, which I then connected to an ISO/Quadlock one for the car.
This is a very newbie question and problem, I know. To be completely honest, I am a newbie. I definitely want to learn though! I figured this might be a fun project, since I like to tinker with this kind of stuff.
