Best bet to get 1 asap is to phone your breakdown provider. They'll even replace it for you and all you'll be charged is the price of the part.

Thats what ive done everytime ive had 1 let go on me. make sure you tell them on the phone that its definitely coilpack.:)

Yea if you have home-start or whatever.... or go for a drive (at least one mile) then call 'em, just make sure you break-down at a pub or something so you can wait inside :)

Also i've had coilpacks fail and the AA will come out & change 'em for you no probs, they usually carry spares but it depends how long the guy has been working and if he's had to use them.

Also the AA will charge Full Retail for these, it's about £40/45 - dealer price is more like £25/30.

But ... after you get it fixed i'm guessing the second thing you'll do on Monday (after the course) is get to a dealer and get a spare - then leave it in the car :)

thanks guys, but call me stupid, but i had cover through my previous job, now a week into my new job i actually need breakdown and dont have it:censored:, the car is a 2001 model so the stealers would just laugh at me, as for a spare i think im going to buy a warehouse and fill it full of the barsteward things.

Most bank accounts nowadays do breakdown cover. I know mine does (lloyds tsb) and i know the wifes does aswell (barclays)

Find a friend/relative that does have breakdown cover, and get them to phone their provider. Just say they borrowed car and were driving it 3rd party. Its the person thats covered, not the individual car.

But breakdown is definitely the best bet to get it asap:)

I was charged £32 per coilpack from AA, you can get them about £5 cheaper at the dealer! So really not that much difference.
