i know this has been asked time & time before: ABS lights...

Cupra Arghhhhh
As i said in the title I know this has been discussed in alot of previous threads , but couldn't find any....

My ABS light is being very tempremental at the moment on my Cupra 2.0 16v. the light will either come on straight away from flicking the ignition and stay on - or otherwise it'll be fine upon starting then come on half way through my journey. I have found out that if I turn the car off when moving and bump start it going again the light reset's itself and stays off for a while but it's only a matter of time until it comes back on again.

The problem is it has just failed it's MOT because of the ABS light being on and now my tax has run out.

I've already taken it to SEAT and they hooked it up and couldn't find anything wrong with it (although this was about 9months ago)

Now my car has been dropped 30-35mm by the previous owner and i think, going on other peoples experiences, this may (or may not) have something to do with it

Please can somebody help me out here - I'm really desperate for advise!!!!

Cheers
Matt

Yep mine recently did exactly the same thing as yours..at first I thought it was the brake fluid level since it used to come on when cornering and when stopped on hills but fluid was fine...turned out it was the front driver's side abs sensor...although my dealer tried to charge me 120 quid!!!! Supa_Dupa where did you get yours replaced? Quite a handy trip though since when they hooked it up to the diagnostic they found out it was overfueling...since having it back its now getting an extra 5 mpg :)

On the Mk2 you would get a fault logged on the ABS ECU telling you what sensor & what kind of fault (intermitant = dirty, permanent= replace)

dont panic just yet

chances are as its been lowered it may have simply melted the cable to the rear ns sensor

seen several do the erratic flash and bumping it would suggest its a connection problem

check the sensors and looms - cheap place to start
