Been searchin and going through my head whether or not to go down this route. I know alot more people are doing it these days.

Just wondering if anyone lived in or around west midlands area that could take me out in a ibiza with a hybrid ko3 on. Cant seem to make my mind up.

Read most the threads on here about them and can work out through one way or another it would probably cost me around 1200 max to get it all on and mapped.

I got a ko3s set up on at the moment so talking another 40bhp for 1200. This is where i start to wonder if its worth it.

Can people who have had it done who went from a ko3s share there thoughts. I know B3NNY i think username was rated it in a different league to ko3s. Just wondering if this is true for all people who had it done. Would people recommend it or would people say save abit more and go ihi or gt28.

I want 300bhp ish. Fast road ibiza. gt28 get it sitting around 320ish same with ihi. But i like the idea of hybrid ko3 as no lag no nothin just smooth power. But dont want to so to speak waste 1200 on this power then still want more. Ideally we would all want stupid bhp but living with it and maintaining it etc. As hybrid still along oem in my books and reliability will stay same.

p.s Car isnt really a everyday car.

Cheers.

Haha i know that. But i think around or just over 300bhp is plenty in a cupra. When i get bored of that i would seek 4wd or rwd to go onto bigger things.

Just wondering how a hybrid ko3 would compare to say a ihi ibiza down 1/4mile or track. As yeah you have 40-50bhp more but abit more lag to go with it etc..

Only thing is i was thinking if you have a gt28 or somethin at 320ish you can always do internals and run more or run more without internals if you want. Where as ko3 hybrid your at its max at 270/280

what you got to think about also is how it would drive on the road

power vs grip (also vs cost if you count the pennies)

bigger turbo's have a completly different power curve to smaller turbo's, a hybrid is the best of both worlds imo, nice quick spool, usable power which will hold up the rev range

ihi's would be a nice turbo package if they were a bit more reliable.

if you go "too big" you have to live with lag (as well as mucho ££££ on maintenance), then when it does spool up it will be tyre smokey happy unless you start spending money on your drivetrain, diff etc.. and by that time the little "k03 hybrid" you mite have been having a play with would be long gone down the road... (until the bt hooks up and fly's by that is)

what do you want out of the car? do you have a power goal? or just want a rapid road chariot? lots and lots of good turbo choices out there

going from k03s to hybrid the difference is silly. imo its definately worth it, power is awesome and more useable than the BT's power. I love the lack of lag with it and for the track where i use it it is perfect :)

The car is used everyday at the moment but i dont need it for work etc.. so can be a weekend vheicle. Only got 23k on so you can tell how little it is used at times.

Thats the problem, i dont want to spend a few grand more and then my running and maintenance costs shoot through the roof. Id rather make do with hybrid ko3.

I was thinking around track etc.. a ko3 hybrid will perform well as instant power etc.. With big turbo your gonna have to keep it on boost etc. But thought a gt28 only running low 300bhp would be fairly reliable?

Power goal is as stated around 300bhp mark. Nothing that will eat through driveshafts week in week out or not get traction until 4th gear or somethin.

I think the main thing that puts me off is paying out 500 quid extra for mapping when not long paid out 400 for stage 2 lol. Wouldnt mind if going madly different but only 40bhp more lol.

I miss n/a at times haha so much easier but just not as fun.

Thought that might be the case.

Seems people hit around same sort of figures with these hybrids aswell over a ko3s where i have seen results anywhere from 215 right through to 250bhp.

Think i may look down this route and start to pick up bits.

why dont you ask CC if they can "adjust" your current map to suit the hybrid better? probably pay per hour for mapping adjustments, i did this after my initial map, it was a bit querky at first and found a few issues with my install, after i sorted the issues i went back to my mapper for a bit of "tweaking"

Don't get caught up on the numbers. A well mapped and well-made hybrid is day and night difference over the normal K03S setup as Ian said above. 40 BHP may not sound like much but the way in which that power is delivered can make all the difference.

As for £1200, I'd seriously think about that though. To get that power down you ideally need a big brake setup, good handling (coilies, ARBs, bushes, braces etc), uprated clutch and if possible a diff. Then there's rods to consider if you want complete peace of mind...£££

Don't be deceived into thinking it's a cheap option to do properly, look at the spec list in my build thread - that adds up to silly money and makes me wonder if I should have just gone GT28 but first impressions of my hybrid are very good indeed - I like the agression and instant delivery of torque that doesn't drop off anywhere. Best bet is to find someone with this already done and see what you think :)
