End button cycles through modes, cannot remember the order.
The sliding button switches between trip 1, trip 2 and 0 on each side resets whichever trip its next to. Trip 1 resets after 1 and a half hours I think, trip 2 never resets you have to do it yourself.
I always used to reset trip 2 everytime I filled the tank to see what mpg's I was getting per tank.

yeah, i just got my 8v on fri, and i never had one on my 1.4 took a bit of getting used to the modes.

mode one resets after a set period
mode two resets when u reset it or it gives you a constant "average" for mph and mpg

if u look on the speedo it tells u all the things the trip comp does.

time, clock, mpg, average mph, how far uve travelled, temperature and oil temp

Give this a try:

Hold the button in, turn your ignition on, off and on again

position 1:
Default: Engine code
1: Land code
2: Speedometer
3: Upper rev limitter
4: Lower rev limitter
5: Decelaration fuel pressure
6: Display test

MFA switch on position 2:
Default: Test programm of programmed bytes (checksum)
1: Intake Vacuum
2: Digital rev counter
3: Fuel usage (like normal)
4: Signal from speedo sensor
5: Oil temperature (like default)
6: Ambient temperature (like default)

Just gace it a bash. I got the same, last 2 being oil temp and air tep. The other one that keeps going all over the place i think is the mpg at that particular moment as opposed to for the whole journey. While moving i took my foot off the accelerato and coasted and it went up to 99.9 and when flooring it, it went down to 12 then 18 then 16. Odd. And when standing still it stays at 0.2.

Anyone managed to get the digital rev read out?
