check the engine code on it if there is one visible

most obvious is a bar code label on the timing cover which is changeable but iirc there is a stamped code also somewhere

a black cloud smoking diesel buff will be along in a sec :)

The engine number is stamped into the edge of the block along the bellhousing joint. Difficult to see and take pictures of. Best I can do is below.

Overview of engine bay

Detail showing part of engine number, brightened up.

Barcode label on the timing belt cover is less reliable, may not have been changed with engine.

You'll have to take the engine cover off to read it as well.

TDI 110 codes are likely to be ASV or AHF; AVG and AFN are also 110's
TDI 90's may be ALH or AGR; AHU or ALE is also possible

Thank you for your help mate. that info was very useful and helped me identify that it is a 110 asv ;)

By the way im guessing the turbo spooling being very audible is normal with a straight through exhaust system? deffo not a boost leak or anything as the turbo pulls very well.

Thanks again for that info.
