I've a 2.0 Tdi, and it was reading 0 for the last bit of my journey this evening (3 miles), garage was closed at the time I've about 7 miles to do in the morning to the garage. Does anyone know if there is a reserve in these cars that would get me to the garage?

doesn't sound too promising. if the traffic was clear on the way home the '0' would be quite accurate. don't forget until the engine is warmed up it uses more fuel than usual.

if in doubt ring up a mate and find a garage thats open now and fill a canister.

as long as your not an arse**** you should have friends that are willing to help out even at this hour. if you don't get any response from them.... well.... :D

EDIT: As long as the gauge hasn't sunken close to the final marker you may be ok depending on morning traffic.

I found that its 7L in reserve I traveled 55 miles, so I might be ok ... I'll check where the actual gauge is.

supermarkets are open all the time, get to one with a friend or parent nows! :D

better safe than stuck at he side of the road walking to a garage to buy the fuel to have to carry it back to the car blah blah... and if luck works like normal it'll rain when you do stop.

not only that, apparently it's a pain in the bum if a diesel runs dry. depending on the engine sometimes injectors need to be taken apart

the range computer on my ibiza is hugely pessimistic i wouldn't recommend this but i once got 60 miles after it read 0 miles this was on a motorway late at night never noticed how low it had got. so getting to a garge 7 miles up the road will be a piece of piss

not sure on range accuracy of the computer but left m25 in a pd130 with light coming on once and came back to cheltenham through oxford.

it ran out 200yds up the road after i gave the sales manager his car back :)
