How long would you keep a Leon Cupra?

Reading threads on here about the longevity of the 1.8T engine, it seems fairly reliable. However problems with my car recently have made me think it's time to change. The engine may be mechanically solid, but it seems to me that the sensors are the weak points.
My car's an '01 reg and has done 83k, which is getting on a bit. Question is, how long do I hold on to it? Much as I love driving the Leon, we need a reliable car that isn't going to let us down.
I was even looking at Honda Civics over the weekend.

had mine exactly 2 years and 25k miles
aside from a few really annoying sensor probs, brake switches etc it has been very reliable and never let me down.

As with all cars though there are bad eggs out there that seem to be prone to problems constantly.

Had it since new, 78,000 miles and keeping it till it dies
Don't worry about 83K miles thats nothing
Better the devil you know
Buy a second hand car, buy someone elses problems

Had my 2002 20vt about 14 month's so far, only got a tad under 36k on the clock, only done about 5-6k in that 14month's, i'll probably keep it a couple or 3 years at least till the warranty has run out, then see "if" things start to go wrong it'll be time to get shot, i think...

Trouble with me is i get a bit bored with car's easily, longest i've ever kept a car is 5 years... so who knows

At the moment i'm perfectly happy with it

5 years.....i'd say thats a fair while to keep a car.

I've had my LCR since march and I'm a bit bored with it already.

If my insurance would allow me I'd be modding the crap out of it however, Im thinking I'll either wait till next year when I can change insurer or sell it and import something Japanese. Maybe a skyline or something.... :)

That should have been kept a car (changed it now) but i know what your saying, it's normally about 15 month's and i start feeling the erge to get something else, only reason i kept the car i had at the time (5 years) was because it was an excellent car, and i 'd spent a bit of money on it...after i bought it off my brother.

So if my current cupra stays reliable, and i'm happy with it, it could be staying a bit longer, but a lot can happen in 2 years, and i keep looking at S2000's and thinking Ummm i want one...

It kinda hinges on if i get another bike next year or not... if i get the bike then i'll keep the cupra a while longer....

I'm not one to change cars regularly. I have a Polo which I bought from new in 1996. It's not let me down yet, and I'll probably keep it until it falls to bits.
All this technology on the Leon just makes me a tad nervous about what's going to fail next. But I suppose all modern cars are loaded with technology these days.

53 plate Leon cupra, just hit 40,000 miles, and intend to keep it til its paid off and maybe a bit longer as we want to move from the flat to a house in the near future.I tend to keep my cars for 4-5 years anyway, hence my short car history in the 13 1/2 years I've been driving.

X-plate (Nov 2000), and next thursday it'll be 7 years old, 91k-ish on the clock and i'm not getting rid of it :)

4 years with APR remap - no issues, now just 2 months into a GTrs turbo kit and loving it - for the lenght of time i've had the car & the money i've spent i could have got another new one, but it would be no where near as good ;)

Car will be kept until it falls apart, sometime next year i'll get a cheap runabout and in 2-3 years the Leon will become a stripped-out track car.

im bored with my car.....so im going snowboarding for 5 months :)

Im up for that! :p

Had my 04 Cupra for 15 months now, i have put 22k on it and its currently at 39k miles. Delighted with it, had a couple of problems - silly little things but nothing major. If the car is sound and is all above board then go for it. Great cars.

P.S: Petrol and tyres seem to be my biggest spend, maybe worth allowing for that too!
