How long is the running in process

Got my FR 1.8t as i said in a previous thread, now getting improved MPG. So how long is the running in period. and what is classed as over use at this time?

i currentlyl got 120 miles on it

it will say in the manual. 1000 miles i beleive.

I've just hit 14k miles on my PD130 and I am sure the MPG has dropped alot! Gettind mid-40's at the moment

around 1000 miles they say then its run it but they seem to really free up the more they get driven!

I Gave mine 1000K before giving it the beans.

I have read in 'DRIVE' magazine that they didn't run in a new golf GTI properly (due to having to rush around the M25 one night).

A week later the gear box started to get notchy and sticky.

It's your motor but i'm sure it wouldn't hurt to wait a while.

You need to red line it once or twice, but dont labour the engine (i.e. make sure your using around 2000 revs in a diesel and dont use the red line for prolonged periods of time, or often).

When bunnin picked his 20vt fr up, on the way back, he got 125 mph on the motorway, after about 5 minutes, so its entirely upto yourself mate.
