How hard to change rear indicator bulbs, As just failed MOT as wrong Colour :wtf:

Seat garage in Swindon just called me saying my LC just failed its MOT as indicator lights are wrong colour.

:wtf: How has its passed its MOT at ever other bloody garage then? They want to charge me £38 to change them.

It cant be that hard to change them can it? I have done the fronts but not the rear is it relatively simple and accessible?

Cheers

There is an access panel in the boot for each light, open and remove the board I think there is two clips. Unscrew bulb and reverse as above. 2 minute job not worth £38.

No tools required. Can all be done by hand I just double checked :)
Cover pops open, board is removed by squeezing the two clips either side. Bulb unscrews.

How can your indicators be the wrong colour - surely they are orange, and if they're getting fussy about the shade of orange then there are probably a million Renault vans about to fail their MOT's because I've seen some of them with borderline whitish indicators.

If they are the orange tinted ones then the orange fades/peels off over time and become more white than orange to the point where they will eventually fail an MOT.

As Allan says DIY, bulbs are only £3-£4 from Halfrauds.

I know I'd be avoiding that garage in the future if they are willing to rip you off that much for a set of bulbs and fitting. I'd be taking my service/MOT business elsewhere :cartman:

******** inspectors will fail a car if it has silver bulbs, even though they light up orange.

OMG what a piss take that was, had to have a 2hr lunch break to go to halfords to buy bulbs, get picked up by my brother from halfords to drop me off to Swindon motor park (Seat Garage) then to replace the bulbs that took about 2 minutes to save me £38 that the garage would charge for 2 minute job, A job so simple that a Trained Squirrel could do ;) Like you lot said halfords will fit them for £3.50.

Mine failed on this to as they had faded, ccost about £1.80 for 2 bulbs and took about 3mins to change both sides.

Where did they get £38 from?

It did also make me feel sick as i herd the staff in the office marking invoices up and hearing just round it up...£ : ( Shocking!

Also they were working on another seat where they had broken a part wile trying to fit the faulty part so they were advising the customer that they would need to order the part from Germany as they do not stock it and that it would cost £xy on top of their bill... it took about 5minutes of the customers time to convince them as they broke it they pay for it... how the F**K do they sleep at night!

When they called me they said they would have to take out the light to fit it?? :banned:
Thats why i was posting on here to find out how hard it was to DIY as did not think that was needed to change the bulbs.

I think they are use to people who don't have any ideas about cars so they pray on the weak. [:@]
