Hi everybody.
Fitting a new turbo soon and wanted to turn the engine over without it firing to get the oil round it but am a bit of a dunce when it comes to this derv stuff.
So any ideas would be great.
Thanks
Dan

Fuel pump relay would possibly work on the non pd engines, but the pd fuel pump is purely mechanical so no relay controls it. The in tank pump could be disabled but this is merely an assistant pump so not an exact method. Removing the ecu power relay disables the injection sequence so that's be what I'd do. Relay 109 is the chap to look for.

I guess that might work... as long as the ECU is unimoblised & the starter motor can turn

hmmm

just connect +12v to the starter motor solenoid :) job done.

Relay 109 used to be a common fault on the earlier models due to a cheap manufacturing issue. The relay used to fail, and the car would turn over quite happily, just no power to the output side of the ecu to the injection system. Everything else worked fine (except for the tell tale glow plug light which failed to illuminate on the self test at turning the ignition on).

To be honest as long as you let the engine run at idle for a minute or two after fitting and dont pain it on the test run then you shouldnt have any issues. Or spray a 100ml of new oil directly into the oil feed on the turbo (via a syringe) before fitment and it'll circulate the oil itself without any issues.
