How do you keep yours clean?

Hi,

I've had my black magic FR for about 7 months now and I absolutely adore it but I cannot keep the frigging thing clean for more than about an hour! It just seems to suck up dust and grime from the road which takes the shine off it almost instantly.

How do you keep yours looking nice? At the moment I'm just washing mine with AutoGlym car shampoo but I must admit I don't polish it. Would that help it to stay shiny?

Cheers

James

Polish would help a lot

i actually clean my own demo's and use zymol its brilliant

also maybe a clay bar treatment to make it silky smooth

At the start of spring & autumn I clay bar, wash, polish & wax. Mostly with Meguiars products except the wax. This is Collinites stuff which is very easy to apply.

Every weekend I wash down the paintwork & top up the wax & shine with a spray-on quick wax called Prima Slick.

Does wax/polish actually help to keep the car clean?
Does it stop tar sticking etc?

It makes it easier to clean the dust off.. I think it sometimes attracts the dust..

Polish/Wax will help stop 'tar' (Bitumen!) sticking, since it will be sticking to the wax layer rather than direcly to the paint.

A decent wax will make it harder for tar to stick but wont stop it. JetSeal 109 is very durable and long lasting but I am being swayed by the Zaino.
A waterless wash is a bad idea especially in the winter it cannot cope with the dirt and salt. I have seen the advert on the shopping channel for ShowRoom shine and the guy talks the biggest load of balls it is almost comical. One minute he is selling it as a wax then it is a polish. You could use it on arriving at a show if the car has a light dust, after all it is only QD but as for a weekly keep your car clean I would stay way clear of that and it is an expensive way to clean your car.
Unfortunately black is the worst colour for showing the dirt but the best looking when it is clean.

Mine is a nightmare also. ive just given up now and have a dirty car during the salty months, there isnt a lot you can do appart from clean it every week. invest in a jet wash and rinse it every other day would prob be the best thing you can do.
