Do people tend to drive there car with TCS on or off?

I switch mine off when playing alone,or on when driving normal or with girlfriend and baby in the car.

Now i have heard rumours that when the TCS is on the BHP is lower,is this all the time or only when trying to boot it and it kicking in?

Also how does the TCS work it just feels like it just cuts all power!

Also i need a quiter switch without a 'click' as the girlfriend hears it everytime!

I tend to switch it off on A roads, it makes the car feel more stable as the power is more constant. A little bit of lost traction makes the TCS jump in and unsettles the car more than the loss of traction, it can drag the car about a bit when overtaking on bumpy roads. Also when I want to make a fast getaway.

Always leave it on in the wet and when I just can't be bothered.

In the Petrol i always had it off as it impeded progress too much.

In the TDi always on, tried it this morning in the wet with it off and it was too uncontrollable, the TCS does seem to be a lot better on the TDi's than the Petrols, at least that is in the Ibiza FR's

Mine is the other way around!
If I want to get anywhere quicker then it's switched off as I find it just bogs done witht the TCS on.
But then I can still get wheel spin in 3rd with it off :D

I keep mine on most all the time, infact I've not even driven the car with it off yet. Have to give it a try when its dry, pointless with this weather

I don't find it that intrusive, probably the best system on any car I've owned so far

Ive been saved by both systems in the past. Prefer it off as the power is down more predicatable and with more va va voom. But there have been times when TCS has kept me on the road too.

Id say - more fun is off. But make sure you know what you are doing in both modes as the car has taken me by surprise in TCS off mode.

OFF!! i hate it, it wouldnt be so bad if it cut the power smoothly or gradually, but it kinda just cuts all power totally and feels like youve hooked a rope to the back of the car which is tied to a post.

Only useful time iv found for it is in the snow and ice

always had mine on. took it off a few times for a little bit of fun trying to pull away . but it's always on . i have been told by a few people never turn it off if you're going some shall we say. i'm sure clarkson ahs mentioned it on top gear saying you should leave it on?

does it really cut the bhp ? i mean obviously its gonna mess wit the power and delivery when "trouble occurs" but i cant see how in a straight line how you would have less power?

Only time i turn mine off is when I know I'm going to make a quick pull away.

Can't see how it would cut the bhp? I thought traction control would simply apply extra braking to the spinning wheels, not actually cut power output from the engine?

Read the book, in mine (p3.11 leon manual) it says the TCS cuts the power and uses the brakes. If the turbo goes off it's going to take time for it to spin back up again, scary when you're crossing traffic and it cuts the power as you cross the white lines.

hmmm, i've ALWAYS driven with it on TBH. Turn it off on very brief moments but i don't like the light on the dash always being on either! (ie when TCS is off)
