Right both hubs are off the cordy now :funk:

On to the next problem :help:

How do you change the outer CV joints? :(

Haynes doesn't tell you much, do I have to take the whole driveshaft out to do it? I need to get the current CV joints off and fit my VR6 ones.

The driveshafts are all rusty too and the, what looks like, plastic coating is flaking off. Is that a problem?

I guess you will be fitting new boots.

Lop the boots off, knock the cv joint off the shaft with a suitable mallet. Slide the new boot on the shaft, knock the joint on after applying the grease into the joint and boot. Tighten up the clips and jobs done.

Yeah I've got a CV kit so new boots and clips etc. There's all these plastic bits and clips in the CV kit and no idea how to fit it all. I'll chop the boot off and give the joint a good bash and see what happens :)

by putting on vr6 hubs your're increasing the track?

Nope, I'm fitting VR6 hubs into the Cordoba carriers so the track wont change ;)

They're not, I have all the bits here and they're different. Which is odd because the box for the new CV joint says its for cordobas from 96-99 but the cordoba hubs wont fit them

I have the right parts, just have to work out how it all goes together

out there over the edge vw tech
right then once youve got the old cv off and the old boot clean all the old grease off the shaft
right then lets start at the begining put the boot on first then get the metal washer (the one with the curve to it) and fit that next with it curving away from you then find the plastic spacer and fit that with the thick side to the metal washer put your old nut on the end of the cv to protect the threads fill the new cv with grease then position it on to the end of the shaft and give it a good sharp crack to fit it on to the shaft pull your boot over and secure and thats that
forget the wirey clip there more trouble than there worth to fit and ive never had an old one fail yet and ive fitted 100
