basically i was told that the oil filter isnt like most cars where it screws in, so i cant fit the sensor for an oil temperature gauge (which i already have)

anyone know if someone has ever fitted an oil temperature gauge and if so how?

how did seat manage to fit the standard one?

The sensor for the temp gauge screws into an opening in the filter housing. All you would do it take out the blanking plug, fit the sensor and wire it in.

Rotherham, South Yorkshire!
Yeah they'll be able to get the wiring diagrams for that dash with the oil pick up and voltage display.
It would be hard to install, may need setting up via seat or vagcom but it's gonna be a signal direct from the ECU TBH.

The one BIG problem your gonna have is getting seat to give you information for the wiring!

Fail to see how it's gunna be difficult.

I could test it by pulling that plug out, flicking my ignition on and bridging the two pins, seeing if my gauge hits the top (my car in the picture at the top btw).

If it works, diode in line with the 3rd party gauge to make sure that no "fooling" of the ECU occurs and splice into that wiring.

It's gunna work on resistance like every other simple sensor on the car (coolant temp, outside air temp) etc etc
