How bad is the standard interior on the 1.8 20vt?

Im looking at a 02 20vt (over here in ireland) that seems nicely priced. However it has teh bog std interior ie no leather etc, its silver in colour with the spokey wheels, can anyone show me pics of what the std 'sports' interior looks like (specially the seats, theres a bit of a funky desing isnt there?)

is it bad? or is it okay?

i agree mate, i think the cloth seats aren't up to much. Defo worth holding out for an example with leather if you can. Guess your options may be limited in Ireland?

Alternative would be to get some Golf MK4 Recaros or LCR seats and fit them. LCR seats will go straight in, Golf seats might need some modifying of the mounts and a new connecter on the airbag loom but all easily done. Retrim also worth considering.

Std leather means infinite electric adjustability plus it comes with electric folding mirrors which i don't think the cloth interior does. Apart from the seats the rest of the interior is the same. My 02 Cupra doesnt have any rattles but i've ditched the cheap feeling handbrake cover (for a leather one) and changed the gearknob for a SEAT Sport Leather/Aluminium - both much more touchy feely. Also got an armrest fitted cos i do a lot of motorway miles and i love to loaf.

cool, cheers for the replies, heres the car in qn:

http://www.cbg.ie/Car_detail.asp?CB...s=3&Make=Seat&Model=Leon 20 VT&frmFilter=Year

pretty bog std, but its the only leon cupra for sale over here and has been for a long time, there are numerous golf gtis and i spose i could get one and get a remap but id prefer a leon to be honest.

Retrim sounds like a plan but its expensive :(

May just end up with a golf??

oh and thats a good price for a 1.8t leon, car prices are crazy here as we have an extra tax on them!

the leather was the clincher for me and my car (that and i'm a sucker for black paint).

TBH at that age and price the Leon Cupra is the car to have out of the Golf/Leon/A3. Depends how keen you are - you could get a similar UK car with leather for about 10 - 11000 euros and import it to ireland?

Mine has the dodgy cloth seats you are on about - with the crappy white pattern on them. But, you dont see that when you are driving! The rest of the interior is pretty anonymous (although good quality) - but it is a SEAT after all - not a prestige make. For me, any problem with the interior disappears when I put my foot down. :bleh:

but how much would the tax be? The car you're looking at is 14850 euros, a UK would be say 11000 euros - that'd leave 3850 euros for the tax?

if tax was a lot less than that then anything left could fund the trip to the UK to find the car. Take the mrs, and you'll be a winner on all levels!

tax normally works out to make it slightly more expensive to buy a car in the uk, and the higher the year ie 02, the higher the tax is to pay, really does suck and has been denounced by the EU as anti competitive,

it seems the govt has 10 years to abolish it, adds something like 1 billion a year to the exchequer!

Tax on the 1.8 20Vt is €482 per year in Ireland :wtf:

Zenith Automotive will retrim the interior in leather, from what i have heard they arevery good

is the car a private sale or from a garage?

from what i have seen the leon interior in any spec is good, its comfy. In fact i would in some cases prefer a normal cupra interior over the recaro trim, as its hard wearing allows for sliightly larger people ( not me honesT!!!!) to sit comfy in them, instead of on top of the bolsters.

Plus being a leon, you cna whack a cheap Golf leather interior in it no problem

What garage, sorry i am nosey

not sure what kinda money they are charging but i know that they have had quite a few mag features, there are also a few other places around dublin that will do leather retrims.
