I am very pleased with Horton at the moment, I have been twice so far and they are very well mannered, both times I went was because I had problems with my car, they got to work straight away and I am very satisfied with their work.

I wish I could say the same for Stoneacre in Doncaster, what a load of codswallop they are...

Plus Horton have a very cool hot drinks dispenser :funk: (and it's free!)

Interesting as had a quote and now nothing!.Also not aimed at this company they seem all to be franchises that dont seem to get the best support from SEAT.I only wish I didnt like the LEON so much or they could ram it.

I retract everything I just said...

I went in today and they charged me £70 and all they did was change a bloody bulb!!

i assume there is more to this as i'd have said change it yourself :p

been in a couple of times but not for anything for myself as my housemate was looking at leon's, difficult to judge from that but seem ok from what i can tell but my car goes to lincoln vag specialists for any work and i'd recommend them myself

I had trippy electronics. When I had my parking lights on my brake lights were always on! I thought it was something serious and may be under manufacturers warrenty but turns out it was just a bulb that needed replacing!

I went there to test drive an FR/Cupra/Bocanegra as I was looking to change and they said the only way to get a test drive was to leave a £1k deposit. Yeah I'm sure I would not having driven it...

All I can say is I went with my wife's car to get the £299.00 Deal for a new cambelt and changed the water pump at the same time total cost circa £343.00. When I got there the customer service person Caroline said that the car has to visit another dealership Skoda which was just up the road to get the cambelt changed! It was only a mile or so but still it was off site even though it was under the same company.

The car would be ready at lunchtime and I would receive a phone call.

I received a phone call from Caroline to say if I wanted the 80,000 mile service done at the same time for £69.00. All level checked and changed! I replied with 80,000 is a major service and all filters needs changing. To which she replied with well we cant do it for that price. I replied I will get it done at my local VW specialist.

14:25 (after lunch) Phone call to say that the car is ready!

The car had a cam belt changed and Seat did a health check for free.

There was a red advisory There was a broken coil OSR and Seat advised us not to drive the car until it had been fixed. £127.00. Caroline did say that she could do the major service also with all the filters for £124.00 as well. So total bill around £600 now?

My wife say okay to this however, Caroline did say that there was a courtesy car then one of her managers called her in then there was not a courtesy car anymore. It was lucky I was not at work today as then it would have been a nightmare. My wife is a GP and luckily was on a half day the next day so therefore did not do any home visits. I told this to Caroline and she said that the car would be ready tomorrow (25/07/2012) at the same time.

25/07/2012

Had a Call from Seat customer services say how as the service they had done on the car.
I explained that the car was still with them and I would wait to pass judgement on their service when they had finished with the car.

I did point out however a couple of things.

1) When I booked the car in there was no mention that the car was to been driven to a nearby Skoda dealership to be done. I quote back to them about their own courtesy policy about paying for the mileage and wondered if there is any compensation to the mileage done even though it was little it deemed only fair. I would not minded if there was a small discount off the bill.

2) Was the health check done at Skoda or Seat? If it was done at Skoda and they knew there was a coil spring that was broken then it should not have been driven back to Seat

3) The car would be completed at lunchtime! 2:20 pm is after lunchtime in my opinion.

4) There was a courtesy car and now it had magically disappeared.

There was food for thought for this and the customer services was going to relay the information back to Caroline.

There was a phone call from Caroline.

Summary

The health check was completed after the cambelt had been done back at Seat so they would not have driven it after it was noted that the coil spring had gone.

Also they had ordered the wrong part as the coil they had got was too small. Caroline said that they had ordered another part but it would be done tomorrow but could not guarantee the time? A courtesy car would be driven to my wife so she had a car for her home visits! There would be £5 pounds put into the courtesy car for the compensation for the fuel used to transport our own for the cambelt change.

The courtesy Car was delivered to my wifes place of work. They offered to deliver it at home which was a little stupid as nobody would have been there I asked them to drop the car off to my wifes place of work. I was as at a football academy with my son all day.

My wife received a Mii! OMG it was certainly not what she is used to.

My wife rang up SEAT to figure out how she was going to get their car back and pick hers up! Someone will drive her car and drop her car off and pick up her car during the day. There will be a receipt for the fuel they had put into the car to compensate. We wondered how to pay for this it will probably be over the phone I am guessing.

Lets hope they fix the issue.

Car is still there at Seat at present will await a phone call.

The only issues I have is the fact that they has ordered the wrong part for the car and the underestimate the time taken to do the cambelt, misadvised on the 80,000 and what was needed and not telling me that the car had to go off Seat to Skoda!

One other issue is I am sure that the car would have been driven on garage plates would it of not? And what is the insurance on the courtesy car? What happens if the police stops the courtesy car?

No paperwork completed with the courtesy car.

Just my experience

Update 26/07/2012

Just had a call but could not answer but I phoned back. The part (Coil Spring) that was promised to be delivered between 8 - 11am I was told this in this phone call but the supplier had let SEAT Horton down. The call was made to me at 2:53pm and Caroline stated that it is unlikely that the car will be done today because of the part which is due to be delivered around 4- 4.30 will not be able to be fitted as it is a 3/4 of an hour job!

I did question a what if scenario! What if the part is still wrong again?. Caroline then put me on hold and spoke to the parts person and said there are two parts for that model coil spring and it could have been the wrong one or the one supplied was the wrong one. Why take a gamble? Order both and send one back! This would have ensured the car would have been back on the 25th NOT the 27th July.

I am questioning as a SEAT dealer that I am sure that your parts person should have knowledge of all cars that are in the Seat Range especially if you are providing 3-10 year fixed price plan.

I asked what was the status of the car? The car has had a cambelt change and the 80,000 service has been done but waiting for the coil spring to be fitted for the car.

I have been to VW/SEAT/SKODA independent garages and they get their parts are are normally delivered within the hour? These are smaller operations than a main dealership. Also some mechanics work later than advised to ensure that the customer is not left high and dry.

I am annoyed at the length of time the car has to be in because of I am guessing lack of technical expertise?

Will not be going to SEAT Horton for anything that needs to be completed now on both of the SEATs in the family and if anybody asks I will not recommend them.

Come SEAT UK you need to do better!

Update! The dealer also put £5.01 in diesel but spilt it on the car. This prompted me to look at the washed car from SEAT. Swish marks and sploshes everywhere :( Added that to the complaint to SEAT HQ now!

Updated. Customer service (SEAT UK) rang up 01/08/2012 and went through the cars history and asked about what I wanted them to do.

1) I want a letter of apology from the dealer principal not an generic letter and a proper signature
2) some discount on the SEAT group if I would like to get my car done serviced there again (NOT) Will be seeing how much discount though I can wangle!

The dealer principal (SEAT Horton) rang up and tried to explain everything. How they had to drive a courtesy car incident. How that oil filters and fuel filters and pollen filters are advisory parts to be changed on a 80,000 service? I said well the car is NOT under warranty and I am sure that the car would run better and more efficient with the filter replaced and as you do it on the 40,000 service then why does it have to be completed?

There was no answer to that question.

The service 80,000 with all the filters was completed at cost price. (£127ish). That was not made known to me but when she said that I replied with sorry the price you quoted was the price that I thought an 80,000 service cost to do! So this cost price advantage unforgettably you did not say anything about that when my wife paid.

Anyway the letter is in the post and waiting to see the amount of discount that would be applied!

Seems like you have been having trouble kinjamin,

I think the problem with Horton is that they are concentrated more on their sister Skoda garage.

Its quite possible that they are doing that!

Anyway (Update 15/08/2012)

The family went on holiday. Took my car and left the wifes car in the garage (The one that Horton SEAT did the cambelt and service on).

After the holiday (14/08/2012 we went on a trip with some friends my wife filled her car up with diesel and we noticed a slight diesel smell! Thought it was just a spillage on the car. 15/08/2012 when it rained heavily I noticed a rainbow effect one of the puddles leading towards the front of the car.

After we car the car home. I had a look and the fuel filter was leaking. That explains the diesel smell then. Fuel filter was changed at the garage!

Problem is that I had fuel filter changed at a indy and I have had no issues!

We be contacting SEAT UK and Horton again to get the issue resolved![:@]

I have posted on facebook the issues on SEAT UK page.

Are you the same fella that had the fuel leak in the engine bay and over the drive from a fuel filter that ruined a cambelt? What a horlicks. Surely you'd have known there was a broken coil. I mean it's suspicious, they could have been trying it on. I hope you clean them out cos that's rediculous. I've had 2 1.9tdi ve cambelt changes in my lifetime by roadside motors in Lurgan as I haven't had the time and resources to do it and they have had the car in the morning and pick up in the afternoon.

I am investigating if it has done! If you can watch the video then the only check was a visual one! I dont think they actually inspected the whole belt or the alternator belt?

Aye even Dennis Horton (Oliver) himself commented on the facebook! Must be that SEAT UK told him about it!

Wont be taking my car there ever!
