Anyone had problems with the crimps on the horn wiring snapping?
Mine has just gone on both sides in the last 2 weeks.

not sure if i can get replacement long male connectors to replace.
Might need to make contacts with bare wire if I can't get crimps??

My horn gave up a few weeks back. Well, the horn on my 8v did, anyway (matron!). As it was just a couple of days before the car went back into storage whilst i'm overseas and I was running round like an eedjit trying to get myself sorted out, I didn't quite get as far as investigating the cause, but I suspect it's most likely a snapped wire (they are quite exposed to the elements and copper does get brittle with age) or may even be as simple as a blown fuse. Will check it out when i'm next in the UK...

is it me or is the horn in the mk2 a bit...well....poncy...it sounds a bit weak, not deep enough...not enough to scare someone in a fit or road rage anyway

sounds like an ethiopian labrador puppy whining to get out.

get twin tones, pair on each side under the bumper.

the horn on the pug scares the **** out of me, even when i'm the one pressing the button!!

It's been a while since i messed about with a steering wheel with an airbag, and that was on a mk4 Polo. IIRC, there's a coily springy thing that sits behind the wheel that will do its' best to try and unravel itself as you start to pull the wheel off the column. So make sure you get your fingers round the base of the back of the wheel.

So long as you disconnect the battery first, the airbag shouldn't go off in your face...
