No horn, so I bought a new one. I can't get it to work because there isn't any power going to it. The relay's clicking and the fuse is good.

I'd spliced in a pair of cables with spade connectors just above the horn terminal but I've no power on them, or the original terminal.

Is it possible the relay is faulty even though it's clicking?

Its possible the switched contacts are high resistance even though the coil is being energised (relay clicking). Is there someone near to you to lend a relay off to confirm this before shelling out for new relay? If still not getting power at the terminals with a proven relay ther may be a dis in the wiring.

no probs mate, if you can't get another relay, try testing current one out of the car. By picking the coil with a 12v feed (if its a 12V relay) then measuring resistance across closed contacts.

I've got a similar problem on my '01 TDi - I was assuming the switch mechanism in the steering wheel had gone but a search reveled threads about the overall crapness of the Seat standard fit horn.

Where do I find the relay for the horn?

With the ignition on, can you hear the relay clicking when you press the horn?

The relays are below and to the right of the steering column. You need to remove (drop) the large - one piece section below the dash. All torx screws, several hidden by the fuse cover.

I havent actually tried with the engine off - anything quieter than the radio at full chat is normally drowned out by the bellow of the alternator eating itself.

Gotcha, thanks! I found the linky to the pics on dismantling & accessing the relays on another thread, but the other thread never said what the relays actually were for.
