I've always been highly skeptical regarding so called 'resistor-chips' on the fuel sensor but having done some research I've found a lot of PD engine users have seen very positive results. I dug around and found a company on eBay that supplied these and appeared to have a lot of positive feedback from the buyers.

I ordered one which arrived 2 days ago and duly fitted it to my much loved but rather tired 2003 Ibiza TDi 130 (with 155k on the clock). I have to say I'm quite surprised with the results. I decided to try one mainly for the MPG aspect as I travel 80 miles a day for work and on that front it certainly seems to be providing positive results. The needle is definitely dropping at a slower rate and my computer is showing gains of 8-9 mpg on my daily average. A pleasing addition is the noticible increase in low end surge but I'm using this sparingly as I'm conscious of putting additional wear on my poor aging clutch!

Also the general performance feels smoother with a definite iron out of flat spots and no signs of a lumpy idle.

Now I am very aware of how these mod's work (70p resistor etc etc) and the potential downsides but I'd like to hear some feedback from forum members who have run these mods long term. I don't need the doom-mongers telling me my engine block's going to implode as I've read all that before. I would just like an honest appraisal from people that have run them and have personal experience.

Just for info the particular mod I've brought is very well made and seems to use the same orange and purple connectors as are on the original fuel sensor and as mentioned, the seller only deals in PD engines and has a very positive feedback profile going back some time.
