Hi everybody,

just a quick one can any body help??

As some of you may know im interested in the supersprint race exhaust system which is 63mm i think, but it is not Homologated and the other one is smaller but is. Does anyone know if this is a big problem and has anybody been stopped by the cops questioning the exhaust on your cars. i believe they
can do you for using a race exhaust on the streets???

Anyone:confused:

When I used to have bikes, many of the aftermarket exhausts would have not for road use stamped on them. Trouble is they are the only ones that sounded any better than the standard system! It's a risk people take but it is strictly illegal, people used to file and polish the words off.

I don't know if the same applies with car exhausts, I suspect it will, but as long as its not too loud and you're discreet about when you make loads of noise I doubt you would have any trouble. Screaming up the high street at 2am is probably best avoided!

i used to have a 63mm SuperSprint RACE system on my Clio 172 that was Manifold back (CAT Bypass), It was basically and expensive pipe with something as small as a bike car for a rear baffle. It was LOUD and i mean start it up and hear your neighbours windows rattling.

On the road it didn't sound like any other sports exhaust, it sounded like i was a proper Race/rally slag nastly rasp popping and banging all over the shop. It was almost impossible to drive the car at 4K which was the resonance point of the exhaust ( also 80MPH)

I don't know how else to explain this without finding a movie clip of my old car, Supersprint RACE systems are PROPER PROPER loud.

Saying all that i did 20K miles with one on in a year and was never pulled by the Pigs, which i guess answers your question !!

ditto - my supersprint is quiet in comparison with the likes of blueflame.
It's nicer sounding and slightly louder than standard though :)

No it's pretty unlikely you'll get stopped by the cops for a loudish exhaust on a car, obviously as long as your not seen to be driving like a twot first... then they check the car over, but the cops for the most part, as far as i'm aware don't have the equipment to test exhaust db levels, unless their with a bloke from the DOT who do have them, and can test sound levels, as far as i know..

I had a "very" loud single box Tanabe system on a Prelude vtec, a few years ago it even went through an MOT with out any probs, and that was much, much louder than the allowed 85db limit, probably nearer to 95-100db, which is motorcycle race exhaust noise levels.

What you have to bear in mind is for every 3db increase, the sound level is doubled, so for example 88db is twice as loud as 85db.

I agree some Supersprints are not that loud, however the original question was regarding the RACE system, I thought this ment that "Punch IT!" was thinking of going the whole way and getting the full Race system including De-Cat. The De-Cat makes ALOT of difference in noise. A race system with CAT's isn't that loud, take the CAT's out and it is.

Front pipe (manifold back)(De-cat) 762412
Centre pipe Stainless steel 911913
Rear exhaust 912605

Stick that on and then tell me it's not very loud.

"disclaimer i may be very very wrong as i have not experiance with supersprint on a Leon only on a clio"

Hi everyone my first post for weeks, but great news i have finally fitted the race exhaust system from supersprint, thanks to Tuning-werkes! What can i say? it looks sexy and sounds great! Not too loud at all and i have the centre pipe without the silencer. It really does roar nicely at full throttle tho and i love it. I have even heard a popping off sound when i PUNCH iT!! It is such a great mod cant wait for the sports cat next month. :funk:

Anybody have the milltek 200 cell cat and the supersprint on their leon ??

Meh... On my old Astra i used to have a full BTB race system (4-2-1 manifold, straight thru centre section, de-cat and backbox) and meeting some mates on the way to PVS at 5am, they could hear me coming from nearly 2 miles away... Never got stopped by the police for the exhaust.

Dude, the Supersprint and Milltek combo you'll have is awesome - and I'm sure you'll love it. If you love just the cat back now - you'll have an even bigger smile come cat/dp time :)

I know I love my exhaust - wouldn't change it for the world :D

Cheers guys for the posts Pabs im pretty certain i will love it more with the sports cat hopefully will have it on next month!:)

I was considering the supersprint decat but i was told it will cause management lights to pop up and also i would get the similar power from the sports cats.

Plus decat is bad for environment lol :)

1 point to note here - I think the diameter of the cat-back system and the Milltek sports cat is slightly different (around 10mm i think) so you may well need to get a reducer made to fit - i know i did - my garage did a fantastic job too :)
