Hitachi Coil Packs

Hi everyone

Just an idea, as it seems a lot of members here are having problems with their coil packs failing or rising out of place - I found this:

This ECS Stage II Ignition solution converts your troublesome & hard to get Bremi brand coil packs (OE part # 06B 905 115L or R) with the more durable Hitachi brand coil pack. Over the years the Hitachi has shown to be much more durable than the Bremi's along with being able to be secured to the valve cover with 2 allen headed bolts. This ECS stage I ignition solution kit includes the following:
  • Four OEM "E" version Hitachi coil packs
  • 8 stainless securing screws & washers
  • OEM wiring harness heat sheild
  • O-rings for sealing new coil packs to cylinder head

$180 from ECS Tuning, shipping to UK would be $75 - but they are OEM parts so with the right part numbers I'm sure it would be easier/more convinient to get from UK, either at VW dealer or Seat/Skoda dealer

Looks interesting. I'm surprised something like this hasn't been brought up before. You going for it?

Looks like I might be going down this route as & when I need to...no CP failures as yet {graps nearest tree / wooden object}

If shipping is $75, I wonder if shipping multiple items at once would work out cheaper, per item. If a few people are up for it, it might be worth contacting the supplier and seeing what deal they would do for a few sets.

well £90 is reasonable. I suppose the bolts shouldn't cost more than a few few quid for a set.

I also have had no problems yet *knock* but I could use the part numbers if I do have to change them.

If anyone does come up with the part numbers that would be great

I think I'll probably go down this route if any of my stock coilpacks die. I don't see any real point if the stock ones are fine, but once they go this might be a much better option, especially since one coilpack going often means the rest will follow.

I could be wrong here but looking on ECS' website, it says that they are only available for the AMU engine code....??

Now I don't know too much about the engine codes and the differences but would this cause a problem??

My local VW dealer had never heard of them and won't give the time of day without a part number.

Anyone have a part number and/or know a good source in South London or North Kent?

Cheers,

VAGParts. Order online and they can deliver. Have used them before and the parts arrived quickly and well packaged, so would definitely recommend them.
