The high-performance CUPRA Born VZ has officially opened for order in the UK, with pricing starting at £44,625 MDP.

The latest version of the brand’s first fully electric model, the CUPRA Born VZ boasts an all-electric system capable of delivering 326PS of power and 545Nm of torque – 75% more than any other Born version.

Thanks to DCC Sport suspension, the enhanced powertrain and improved chassis dynamics mean the CUPRA Born VZ can reach 62mph from a standing start in just 5.6 seconds. The model’s top speed has also increased and is now limited to 124mph.

But, performance has not been achieved by sacrificing efficiency. The improved battery pack now offers 79kWh of net capacity (+2kWh) and can travel up to...

I think Cupra need to get these available for test drives. I’ve seen so many comments stating it’s too slow, but all that’s based on is the 0-60 time which is meaningless in real life.

I have a feeling this is going to be a brilliant car, not as track orientated as the Ioniq 5N, but better range and far more fun to drive than most other ‘sporty’ EVs. The Born is already a fun car to drive, the VZ can only be better.

I’ve had a v1 since March as a temporary car, and the VZ is on my list as soon as I’m allowed to order through our lease scheme. But not being available to drive or even sit in it’s difficult.

Blast from the past. Hi! Yes looking forward to getting one to review soon hopefully. I'm tempted myself but not sure about the back of the car. Love the side profile and the front looks good too.

Haha I look around once in a while :)

The Born is a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I was worried it would be a soulless shopping trolley, but once you work out where its limits really are you start to have fun. It reminds me of the old days , it feels like a RWD Cordy SX. Ok it’s heavy all evs are, you have to accept that. It’s like driving a Cordy SX 1.6, you know the basics are there, just needs more power, more tyre, more brakes, and happy days. So the Born just needs more power and lower sidewall size, which the VZ has, and better brakes, which it doesn’t. Which is disappointing.

The VZ would be top of my list if…

They’d put better brakes on it. Keeping rear drums means it’ll overheat too much. I don’t want a Chungster car brake fire on my hands 😂

They’d properly sort the infotainment with customisable shortcuts so I could have the car set to my liking with one button.

Maybe just a little more power. Just nudge it to 400bhp

I don’t care what the 0-60 is. I don’t need 0-60 on a B road or on track ;)

I think the 5N is top of my list now. I just don’t think the VZ would track. Maybe if Cupra gave me one for a month so I could drive it to the NBR I’d change my mind. Haha
