In 5th and 6th gear I sometimes see a peak boost of 27-28psi around 3500rpm's.. then it slowly drops to like 25psi at 4500rpms...

should I be worried?

I only notice this sometimes when I want to torque my self up a hill in relatively high speed.

theres no limp after tho. So perhaps this map is good for a hybrid install? + forged rods.

According to your sig your torque figure is pretty damn high for standard rods, you should get that reigned in a touch.

Too bad I like the punch I get from the engine then ;) I am kinda playing with the thought of a hybrid K04, FMIC and forged rods... I think the current map I have is really good.

I prefer straight rods to a massive punch...uprated rods would be the best place to start , after reading around on here it seems like they are the part that fails along with the clutch over 300ish ft/lbs

What actually happened to your engine failure wise.

I know everyone says the rods on a LCR - S3 are rated to 300lb-ft but I have never actually heard of someone bending a rod or snapping one. There are loads of engines running your power and are fine.

Is it just hear say on forums

no it happens... spikey high torque is a killa
I would say more on 210/225 motors with k04's as their torque spike can be vicious

makes me nervous when I am logging cars and their boost spike is abrupt and high...

Dammit i and running 308lb/ft with a boost spike of 1.7 bar(24psi) Which i don't this is too bad? is it.My garage did warn me the last time it was in for a service that rods could bend.

I would also be interested to know along with Turbin, on forged rods, big job/cost and Do we really need them?

think of this happening
210 Audi S3 suffered this.. also broke off oil squirter and portion of the base of the cylinder wall on cyl #3 - eak! :(

also, is there anything else I should do down there while everything is henging out anyways?

Well, that's graphic enough. At this point the block is scrap, from the bent rod smashing into it I'd guess. Pretty much time for a new engine, I'd have thought.
