I've done a quicky searchy and i cant find anything specific to what im looking for (altho theres lots of HID threads)

Was looking on the HIDS4U site and was going to purchase the Pro-Max Kit (the £110 set) but the site and the help desk have both stated that the Pro-Max kit might work but not certain due to the ECU and on that note only the Ultimate set is going to work.

I dont suppose if anybody has got any other of the HID sets other than the Ultimate from these guys and if they work with your car??

thanks guys

IIRC - the ultimate kit is for cars where there is a warning system if a headlight blows.

The ibiza is not fitted with such a warning system and will accept most HID kits available.
( Lost track of the amount of H7 bulbs that have blown in my ibiza sport tdi and had no warning till i pull up behind someone and see the reflection )

I have the diane_shop ones from ebay, 6000k, had them for a year now and they've been ace. Way cheaper than the HIDs4U jobs - I also considered them.

Sounds like they are just steering you towards the most expensive kit  the site tries to do that too.

The mk4 Ibiza does`nt use a can-bus wiring system which throws a wobbly when you fit hid`s - I have the pro+ kit with H7R`s (£85 with discount code) and it works fine.

EDIT: Just remembered I HAD the pro+ kit... Now have slim ballasts from another source (so I could mount them in a better place).

Nice one guys, appreciate that, i'll be get me's some of them, where is the best place to mount the ballasts?? I was thinking behind the crash bar if they fit.....

i was tempted by them, but ive had alot of bad experiances importing from HK through eBay, also after postage is applyed and possible import duty the cost will probably be only around £20-£30 cheaper, and for me spending that is worth it for a UK based 2yr guarentee and if i did have any problems it will be no more than a weeks turn around

I used to have them on the crashbar mounts...

But I bought some slim ballasts and put them IN the lights.

You can`t really see them in the pic but there is a gap in the bottom of the headlight unit below and between the reflectors - I had the idea when I replaced a headlight and saw the gap.... fits in perfectly!

Sometimes you do get what you pay for, well worth the extra pennies

 yeh i know what you mean, i was havin a look in the bay and so little space its untru, decided the extra work would be worth it, will keep the bay clean as well.

Maybe the older designs are cheaper to make?
I got them from car mod shop on ebay (UK seller), I went for black ones and took the stickers off them because the part of the headlight I fitted them under is semi-transparent, and they would show through from the outside if they were silver or had the white stickers on them.
Hids4u do slim ballasts but they are silver.
I could`nt find anywhere decent to mount ballasts in a TDI engine bay...so I can see why the crashbar option is popular, but I wanted something more oem.

Hey Money Bags,

Sorry, made that assumption if you're shopping at HIDS4U ;)

Do yourself a favour and get them from this UK seller:

British eBayer.

Metal based bulbs
Ceramic insulated
Slim ballasts
Silicon Wires

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=220486482784

Not the cheapest, but I wanted the UK seller and 2 year guarantee.

:santa: delivered some for me this Christmas and I'm well happy :)

Yeah think I got the idea from you ages ago! But my pro+ ballasts did`nt quite fit inside the bar like yours.

I think if you have normal ballasts the best mounting place is crashbar area, and for slim ballasts stick `em in the lights.

Phil, if you don`t want to stretch to hids4u I recommend Car mod shop
which is where I got my ballasts.
UK seller and they have their own site as well as being on ebay.

CHeers for that mate, having done a search for the discount code ive decided to put my order in with HIDS4U, im yet to find anybody who's said a bad word about them.

i think i was the first for the crash bar mount!!

it was your thread which gave me the idea. ive lookin in my engine bay for a while for a suitable place to mount them, then i read your thread and it struck me as the place for them. to you good sir
