Hi guys,

Installed the HIDs today on the Leon FR+ and look great, taking a run with them later!

Where did people put their ballasts on a tdi?

1 of mine sites in the tray underneath the bulbs.

Did people stick it down with double backed sticky tape?

The other i have wedged behind the water bottle, took it out and it wedged in nicely, but not sure its really secure, is there an easier or better place to put that one?

Cheers peeps!

Rich

Tucked in in similar place on the nearside too

The overall look. Off out when it's pitch black to ensure the beam is OK.

Looking good..

tested tonite and one of the bulbs went out....turned off and back on and all fine...

the bulbs tend to shake a bit on bumps and things? is this normal guys?

It is definetly seated in the holder properly and the metal clip pushed back.....

you don't have the twist the bulbs once in do you?

I wander if i have a faulty bulb :(

They flicker a little when first turned on, increasing in brightness, but shouldn't really flicker whilst on the move. They just sit in the holders like regular bulbs. Mine's H7.

After having been out in mine I did notice them flickering ever so slightly when I was facing a wall to check the beam pattern was ok. (it was) Therefore I can only assume that HIDs do ever so slightly flicker.

Off a mate on Briskoda. No idea to be honest where he got them from, but I can ask.

The brand is "Helligkeit" and they're made in Germany apparently (probably boxed there and made in China :D)

yup mines the £30 kit off ebay and its the same brand as you mention above.

The flicker isn't on start up (i mean they do take a while to get to full brightness)

no its on the move, bumps and things like that, the bulbs tend to move in holders.....they are sat properly in the holders....i had it with my Cupra R's ones too...

weird maybe its just me!

Will double check them later!

Did anyone else have problem putting the metal bracket over the wiring in the bulb holder? the wiring of the bulb is almost in the way?

Pretty sure mine are not moving in the holders. I was sat still doing the beam check against the wall when I noticed the very slight flicker. Just seemed to be at the top edge of the beam, and not constant. It would flicker a bit, then stop. - On both sides.

out there over the edge vw tech
your lights give the effect of flicker because there not a filament they use an arc like welding through the gas in the bulb so as you bump down ruff roads the arc moves in the light giving a flicker effect mine do the same and i wouldn't put the ballast under the headlight on the nearside as mine filled up with water on a very wet motorway run one time

Looks like a fair bit of glare there in the top pic Jase...

Had a kit on my Fabia but I kept getting flashed by oncoming drivers.

I'm not being funny guys, but buying an HID kit off ebay for £30 is probably the reason your having problems, you pay for what you get these days, no matter what it is, you should have paid extra and got a decent kit from HIDS4u, they seem to have the best after market HID kits around, I'm going to save up and get there ultimate kit, you can get the anti glare bulbs too, as the fabia picture above has far too much glare from the headlights!! :-o
