Hi all, I picked up my ex-demonstrator Cupra in Nevada White a few days ago at John Clark Seat/Skoda in Aherdeen, after trading in my ageing 2.2 I-Cdti Civic. I only went out that day to test drive a few new cars with a view to ordering a new one, but after driving the ex-demo Cupra I found it had all the options I would have picked anyway, so seemed a good idea!
So this is my 800 mile, June '13 registered Ibiza Cupra in Nevada White, with winter pack and rear parking sensors, that I got for 16k!! Very happy with that, especially as it's such a little rocket and comes fully specced with everything I would want in a car. If I could give you pictures I would, but as a new member I can't yet
I was considering modding the Civic to bring it up to a better spec and make it faster (the 2.2 is way under tuned and can push out over 200bhp without long term implications), but it would have been an endless struggle and I still would have had a 5YO 90k car. Decided to cut my losses and move on. I'm not planning any mods on the Cupra though as its so good in stock form.
It was a choice between the Ibiza, the Nismo Juke (hilariously fast but wallowy and not great in the bends), a pug 208gti (just not quite as good to drive as the Cupra and its fragile French), the Fiesta ST (which is being drip fed into the market, the dealer told me I couldn't even see one in a dealership for another 6 months let alone order one). So the Cupra with its DSG and frugal tiny engine won out.
Still getting used to the semi-auto having never driven an auto box before, still occasionally slam on the anchors thinking I'm going to change gears - thankfully no damage done yet! Only just found out yesterday what the S mode on the gearbox stands for (I thought it was for snow mode!
) and so far I'm loving things like music streaming, the exhaust note on high revs, and the general effortlessness of the auto in stop-start traffic. Still got plenty to learn about it, and Im away overseas for a fortnight now so not getting to play with it for a while
Need to order snow tyres as a first priority though.
This seemed like the best of the Seat / Cupra forums so I'm setting up here - I'm still a member of the Civinfo forum and the time spent there while I owned one was invaluable for tinkering and improving the car, hoping for more of the same on this site!!
