Hesitant Start

Hi, my mates just bought a LCR 225 has done over 125k now - it runs and drives perfectly, just when starting the car warm or cold its slightly hesitant but fires up everytime.

the lights on the speedo cluster fade and brighten again while its turning over (like its needing more power)

not really a issue but mine starts up almost instantly, what could be the cause..?

sounds like a new battery is needed

I'd go with battery to begin with, the cold weather is known for helping some of the delicate ones along to the end of their life.
