help wiring up amp!?

Hi, heres the situation:

Decided to fit my old system into my car (sub and amp!) seeing as its just been sold. so ok, bought a new wiring kit. power cable, phonos, control, earth have all been laid. Ok fitted the amp to the subwoofer, however on testing nothing turns on!

Ok i have earthed it to an earthing point behind the rear passenger side clusters. Tested the control cable with alternative one, still no luck.

What am i doing wrong?!

By control do you mean remote off of the back of the head unit wiring? On some amps you have to put the wiring in the amp in a certain order, normally earth first. Also is there a fuse that could of gone either in the power cable or in the amp?

Plus have you checked to see if the sub is turned on on your head unit settings?

I'd temporarily wire the remote to permenant live to see if it turns it on. If not chances are you have a bad earth

Cheers for the advice although..

checked all the fuses, they seem fine, also checked the head unit settings and all subs bits are on!!

and yes by control i mean remote wire..maybe i used the wrong wire......

Should be the blue wire out of the loom coming out the back of the head unit.

like I said wire the control / remote wire to a permenant live and see if it turns on then you will know you've got the wrong one

As truCido says, loop the remote terminal on the amp into the live to see if it switches on. But don't leave it looped in or your battery will die.

thought my ground would be ok since its a ground used by lights etc....

Ok did as you said TruCido, and the amp works, however a red led lights up!? is that just to say its on!?

something wrong with the remote wire i guess.....

yeah there should be a light to say its got power

yeah you must have the remote wired up to the wrong thing, what have you got it (or did have it) wired to?

well, the idiot that i am, i wired the remote from the amp to 'external amp control wire'.

However on further inspection i realised that there was another wire called 'power control' this wire then indeed worked! (im an idiot)

just gotta get all the crappy vibration noises out now!
