Help! Wipers have stopped working

Hi,

My wipers have been dodgy since I bought the car, they sometimes don't work (maybe once a fortnight) and I either have to turn them on and off again, or I have to get out, waggle them a little and they start working again then too.

Except now, 6 months since I bought it, neither of the above work.

Is there anything else I can try quickly? I'd like to get into work if possible, but it's looking pretty unlikely now ;P

Is it a new motor job!?

maybe, spray some wd40 where the splines meet the arms, outside the car. take the pollen filter cover off and spray the linkage towards the drivers side.

i think the teeth on your splines may have worn or slipped, have you tried pulling the arms off?

Thanks guys; it actually started working again about 10 minutes after posting this, it's really random, as in, if I turn on the car and they work, they'll work for the duration of the journey, however sometimes I'll turn them on, they'll move a bit (they always move a bit...) and then stop again.

Not tried pulling the arms off or doing anything with it yet really; I'm really clueless when it comes to cars, but I'll have a good look later and get some WD40 on the go

Mine do the same sometimes, give them a wee kick start and there usually fine for a week or 2!
