help required urgently tapping sound

hi all, driving my car today (ibiza GTi 8v) and there seems to be a tapping sound coming from my engine bay when im in first goin through the revs, then in second a kind of a knickling sound then after that it goes. but every time in first gear now its sounding worse and worse. help needed quickly!!!!!

ok, i just took it out again and the tapping is louder when its in first and i let the engine slow right down (engine braking) before dipping clutch, what the f**k is it??????????

Is it a mechanical or electrical sound? My 8v started making a ticking / tapping noise about 14 months ago now, you can only really hear it going through first gear. Thought perhaps it was an injector giving up the ghost, but it's been making the noise ever since (that must be about 15,000 kms ago!) and has driven fine, so I just ignore it

I have tried to trace it in the engine bay / bulkhead area, but it's impossible to actually locate it!

found out its something in the gear box, will be taking it apart on sunday!
