Help *PLEASE* Waxing car, Gone Wrong!

I love the satisfaction of my car gleaming after a good wax and polish, but the only problem was that it would take so long to do a good job, so i looked into getting a buffer as I’ve seen pics of peoples cars after using and they almost look like a mirror in half the time.

So i looked around at reviews to see which one to get.....

In the end i popped over to halfords and got the 240v buffer with a bottle of extreme turtle wax.

I then applied the wax and all looked well, then it came to changing the pad for polishing... as i started polishing it off with the buffer it was leaving Dot like spots on the paint work, and when you would run yor hand over the paint work there were like hard spots, felt like tar but made streaks when wiped over hard enough?

In the end i got a polishing cloth and did it by hand, but it took even longer to try and take off the dots? Managed to get most off but paint work still does not feel as smooth as it should be???

What could i have done wrong?

Did i not wash the car enough?
Did i not put enough wax on??

Right then....

Was the car in direct sunlight?

Is the buffer a random orbit one?

You pay for what you get IMO, cheap buffer and cheap nasty wax gives you **** results...

Invest in some decent sealant and wax and bin the buffer...

Too much wax. Not enough drying time. Wrong sort of wax. The lumps you are feeling are balls of undried, cooked wax.

And Turtle Xtreme Wax is less than ideal for a motorised polisher. You did read the back of the pack, right? The bit where it says to do it by hand only.

Buy some proper machine polishing wax, and you'll have much more success.

Yes i did read the back and it did not state that it was not sutable for use with buffer.... im sure i'll have another look 2night.
