Hi everyone,

Apologies if this is in the wrong place, I wasn't too sure.

I bought a seat Ibiza s a/c 1.2 2015 (Jan) yesterday after my 2004 Ibiza died. I bought it from a seat dealer and it had a service before it was handed over to me.

I have just noticed today that the red oil light comes on oddly... It flashes faintly when I indicate left, but not right. It is faintly on when I have the hand break on and if my seatbelt light is on, when seatbelt isn't plugged in (with the ignition on and car running).. As soon as I put my seatbelt in it goes off. Also noticed the boot open symbol is faintly on too when my Seatbelt isn't plugged.

I am still under warranty so can get it checked out but can't afford to miss work ( I have a long commute) due to car troubles. So my main worry is driving it all week until Friday.

Any thoughts? It has just been serviced as I said and I've only drove it about 50 miles since then. Hopefully someone can give me some advice. Seems like a light signal problem more than anything.

Hi mate.
I can't tell without seeing it, but from what you've described it just sounds like the light is "leaking" into those lights from the surrounding ones. Probably just where the plastic grid that seperates them hasn't been installed properly. Is the oil light closer to the light for the left indicator than the right one? If so that would make sense.
Take it back and if it's a seat dealer they will loan you a courtesy car for work.

Thanks guys for the reply. What you do scribed sounds about right, with the left indicator being on the same side as the oil light, however the seatbelt light is on the other side, so that's a bit odd. My main worry was driving it before getting it back to the dealership (both it and my work are not close to home) but I will check the oil level in the morning. As it was serviced yesterday it has to just be a lighting fault surely!

Just picked up the car last night - only bought it yesterday and of course didn't notice until today. But the car was serviced at the dealership before handover so I'm not sure if it happened before. Wll call them up on Monday and hopefully get it sorted.

I thought my car troubles were over for a while lol

When seatbelt is plugged in the light is off... But when it's not plugged in and the seatbelt sign is on, so it's the oil like faintly (on the opposite part of dash board) as well as a faint car boot open sign on the same side.

It takes about half an hour to change them and recode them, you need to make sure you take BOTH KEYS to the dealer though as they also need to be reprogrammed at the same time as the dash pod being fitted.

If it is the instrument pod suffering from cracked solder joints, then maybe, if you can live without your car for a few days, you could remove it and send it away for repair to one of the specialists that test/repair car ECUs etc.

Though in your case, maybe wait to see if "things" dry off and hope to be lucky.

I’ve had the mechanic leave a dehumidifier in overnight and it only took half a cup of water out and it’s still doing it so I’m not holding out too much hope of it sorting it’s self out 😬
He’s going to have the car for a day to take a deeper look. I was curious as to what it might be and and when I found this post it’s the exact same lights coming on triggered by the same things, indicators/ seatbelts etc

I’m honestly not sure but it was very wet inside .. with big water drops on the inside of the windscreen but due to I’ll health I was unable to drive it for a while so it did sit there and dry out on its own and not get driven much for a good month before I managed to get it to the garage.
