Help Needed Toledo Wipers

On my way back from Edinburgh the wipers decided to tangle up,i thought it was just the spindle nuts come loose but the spindle has completely snapped at the base,anyone done wipers before ,any help would be gratefull as the wife needs the car for work,cheers :(

Not a big job, but you'll be best off with a new (and by new I mean 2nd hand) wiper linkage

Plastic caps need to come off the top of the spindles to get to the nuts (13mm IIRC) holding the wiper arms on, remove wiper arms, lift bonnet, remove seal along the scuttle .... hang on, there's a guide somewhere .....

So to continue ...

remove plastic scuttle panel from the base of the windscreen and you'll see the 3 bolts holding the motor linkage in place.

The spindles tend to seize up, so spare linkages pull a premium at scrappers, but you might be able to save a few quid by getting the linkage without a motor attached.

cheers mate for the info,got a friend at a local breakers ,he has a 2000 mk4 golf.he reckons this is the same parts,he is gonna get them for me tommorow,hopefully they fit:(

Yeah, mine siezed and I got an Octavia one - Golf will be fine


Probably about an hours job all in - 10 & 13mm spanners all you need I think



...oh and a flat screwdriver to prise the caps off
