I CANT LOCK MY CAR!!

When i left work today i pressed unlock once and driver side unlocked as normal but needed passenger side so pressed again but nothing worked.

I now cant lock or unlock any doors with the key, but i can when inside the car using the button on the door.

Problem is i do not have a spare key to try the synchro method in the Seat manual and i do not have a lock barrel in the drivers door anymore as i removed it and blanked it.

I have tried disconnecting battery for just over 30 minutes but no change
i have tried putting key in ignition and pressing button and holding, no change

Please help, i can't bear the thought of my car getting nicked, and i dont want to have to climb through the frigging boot every night and morning:cry::cry:

Sounds like the motor in one of the doors has gone - i think there's one master and one slave motor, without the master motor the slave doesn't work. At least that's how it used to be the last time i fitted central locking ( 1990 metro in about 1997 lol ) - don't know if this something the Leons do.

Can't you lock internally, climb out the passenger door and lock with the key from the passenger side?

Well it can only be one of two things;

1. the fob has lost association with the cars ECU
2. the fob batteries are too flat for it to work.

Do you not have ANY spare batteries kicking around the house that you can try in it? Calculator battery or something, looking at the size of the fob it's probably a CR2032 or something.

Failing that it's looking like a 'through the boot job' which is going to look pretty suspect :)

yep its one of those, gonna try a petro station on the way home to see if they got one as my mate hasn't got one as home, hes an auto electrician, he can't get this working either.
Good job i havent done a mega install in the boot yet lol
I gotta get a spare key anyway so ill have to see where i can source one from tomorrow

Well climbing through the boot this morning was fun
I couldnt get another battery from anywhere last night but my mate should hopefully be able to supply me with one tonight.

I've ordered a new flip key with blank blade off ebay which i've been meaning to do for ages, and can get it cut in my lunch hour as Timpsons is only round the corner.

My mate has told me he may be able to re-synch my key to the car as he has (now don't be rude :D) some sort of probe that he can put in the ignition, fingers crossed it will work, but in the meantime i've got to try putting my lock barrel back in after de-locking it!

PROBLEM SOLVED!!
I took out the solid lock barrel when i got home yesterday to put the original lock barrel back in so i can use the key to lock the door. And oddly when i took that out, my remote started working again, windows down, windows up, everything! Only problem is when i tried putting the original barrel back in, it would not stay in place, easily slides out despite the screw in the side.

It turns out that a plate that the Torx screw pushes against the barrel to lock it in to place has moved, and was possibly trapping something to stop my remote working.

I've now got to remove my door card and inner skin to recover if from the bottom of my door and put it back in place, got knows how though cos i don't know how it sat in the first place!!

I still got issues!

Well i recovered the plate that goes against the side of the lock barrel like this:

But cannot for the life of me get it to stay in place!!
I've looked at how it sits on the passenger side, the plate has teeth around the edge and the Torx screw you unwind to let you slide the barrel out sits just in one of those teeth to push the plate around the barrel when you do the screw back up.....phew deep breath!!

Only prob is i cant see or feel anything that should hold the plate steady the other side so it just drops down into the door when you tighten the torx screw back up. There is nothing else in the bottom of the door

Any ideas??

You see that metal lip that sits in front of the half circular clip ... i wonder if there should be a locking plate of some description on it? Something that slides against the clip and holds it in place. I'll have a look in elsawin and see if it has any exploded diagrams.
