Have you got the replacement bulb?

If so take a look at it, basically when the bulb is placed properly in the headlight socket, all you can see is the rear of the bulb, with a wire sort of shaped like an 'A' pressed against the rear, and hooked under a small hook on the headlight casing.

Im assuming you have removed the plastic lid at the back of the headlight which gives access to all of this.

So, have a look at the back of the headlight, you are looking for a wire which hooks on to the old headlight bulb, pull that connector off. Then you need to unhook the wire clip, only small, you need to kind of push it in ie towards the front of the car, and to the side, so it unhooks.

the headlight bulbs are only small if they are like mine.

Yes mate, ive got the casing out its the actual bulb i cant get out of its housing....and thats all my problem is. I wasnt 100% sure if it was the bulb that just comes out as mine wont move and i didnt want to force it to much.

If it wont move i bet you still have the wire clip attached.

resting against the rear of the bulb you will see a wire clip which presses it into the housing, bit like an 'A'.

this is on a hinge, with the top of it pressed down and under a hook on the headlight housing.

looking down at the back of the bulb, follow the wire up, and you will see a bit you can press towards the housing (front of car), and then move it to one side so it unclips.

I've got a spare headlight casing here, can put a few pics up to help if you like? Takes a bit of wrangling but it's an ok job.

Was only joking earlier, didn't think it would be taken seriously.

Thats ok mate. LOL....

It would seem like i am doing something wrong ive tried pulling the bulb but it wont come out so will look tomorrow for the other bit. Right at the bottom of the attachment there is a black housing but it looks like that protects the wire and doesnt hold anything in place.

although for some reason i do have these metal things rolling around the inside of my lights....have done since i brought it....sod knows what they are.

Thanks for all the help honestly though chaps.....i know this is remedial compared to other things on here but for some reason i just couldnt get the f**ker off !

Ok the white wire needs to be pulled/wiggled off the bulb. The black plastic bit over the wire is just a cover. You need to pull it in the direction of the bulb, not the direction of the wire. Wiggling it helps.

Then there's a thin piece of metal, the clip, which is described well above.

When the wire is off, and the clip is disengaged, you just need to pull the bulb (which should now be loose) out of the housing. It's a fairly tight fit and needs to be lined up 'just right'.

Hope that helps.... my camera batteries are dead!

Do the metal things inside your headlight look like cups? Iv got one rolling around in mine and i can't get to the f**ker. Think its attached on the inside of the headlight

you would think by now I’d have it all sorted but I haven’t.

I have just been out there for 20 minutes and I can’t shift the bloody thing and I have pulled and pulled that much at it my fingers hurt.

I know I have the dipped head lights and my headlights and I am changing the headlight bulb. I have located the metal clip i have to push to the side and the bulb and its holder comes out....i have then taken off the black plastic clip at the bottom of the unit and then tried to separate the two parts but for love nor money it wont come off. I don’t know if someone has used some pliers in the past to pinch the two together but I swear to god I have followed everything that everyone has said i cant get it to separate.

hi mate,

when you say the 'black plastic clip at the bottom of the unit' - are you referring to the plastic cover at the end of the wire where it meets the bulb?

Underneath that is the connector joining the wire to the bulb. The wire is crimped onto the connector. The connector itself slides off the bulb - pull/wiggle it away from the bulb. It's stiff, took a while on my spare one the other night.

nice 1,

at the moment the other bit is moving more (the part thats normally covered by the platic clip) and thats what i am worried about becuase i dont want to break it. the thin metal bit that the wire is attahced to is really moving and then the end of that sits in a white plastic bit....and that wont budge !.....and i am taking it that thats the bit that needs to come out.

The thin metal piece that the wire is crimped onto is the connector, it slides off another piece of shiny metal which is fixed to the white plastic bit!

It sounds like the right bit is moving.... keep pulling ;)

WD40

Incidentally, trivial knowledge fans, 'W D' stands for 'Water Dispersant' and the '40' is the forty formulas it took to perfect the product.

Can you tell ive done my xmas shopping and have nothing to do!
