Right then come to get in the car this morning and it won't start!!! i've had the engine check light on for weeks as i had the dreaded...

16795 - Secondary Air Inj. System: Incorrect Flow Detected

.....problem and have been unable to find the leaking hose yet. Anyway the car won't turnover over at all. so i plugged in my VAG-COM cable and i now have the following error (with the previous 16795 error not being there at all now).........

Secondary Air Injection Solenoid Valve (N112): Open Circuit

.... I've been looking around for about an hour now on here but can't find anything/anyone with the same problem they seem tio have this code with a MASS of other fault codes. With solutions to their array of issues ranging from replacing coil packs (mine are less than 6 months), battery (less than 12 months old), and even removing the ECU and sticking it on a radiator (in the house) for a nite to dry it out......so then any ideas anyone??!?!?

P.S. if anyone could also show me by photos, or a guide the procedure to sort the 16795 error as well and i'll try and sort the both of them out seeing i'll be taking the motor to pieces this week.
Cheers in advance,

Robbo

Hey Robbo your fault which states 'N112: open circuit' would suggest that the plug on side of it disconnected or faulty in some way. The N112 is the valve to the back left of the rocker cover where the vacum lines go into! I know when I left my N75 unplugged it brought up the fault 'N75: open circuit'.

I cant see your starting problems be down to the secondary air system.

Have you got any other codes and are you reading the codes with vag com?

Cheers for the responses boys. Below is a cut n paste of the fault codes from my VAG-COM:-

################START##################

VAG-COM Version: Release 409.1-US

Control Module Part Number: 6K0 906 032 AA
Component and/or Version: 1.8L 20VT EU3 0002
Software Coding: 10500
Work Shop Code: WSC 00000
2 Faults Found:
17840 - Secondary Air Injection Solenoid Valve (N112): Open Circuit
P1432 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
16795 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs
P0411 - 35-00 - Please Register/Activate

################END####################

Cupra_G i quickly tried lookin at the N112 valve (well i guessed what it was, from your description:)) and unplugging it and shooting compressed air on the plug and valve terminals.

I also forgot to mention that i briefly read somewhere it could be me immobiliser, so i've tried the other 2 keys on their own and by using one in the barrel and moving the other one around the steering column hoping for at least a turning over of the engine. Would this valve cause a lack of turn-over from the engine. I am yet to (as i'm @work now...car's at home) check relays, fuses, etc.

Its only picking up one fault code as your using an unregistered copy of vag com.

Get a full version or get someone local to you look at it, i bet theres more codes coming up than that.

Its not the secondary air, i dont even have one and mine starts all the time.

if its key related will it not start for one second, then cut out??? know thats how it works if the key/ecu arent matched.

Am i screwed now tho'? As i've cleared the codes to see if it would start after clearing them, so surely if i get a registered version will the codes come back with it not even turning over? There's not even the clicking of the starter solenoid for e.g.

I'd go with battery/alternator, try jumping it off another car. If its key/immob related i'm pretty sure the car will start and run for about 1 sec and then cut out.

If the car isnt even making a noise when you turn the key it must be Battery/alternator.

Chances are you still have the same battery that the car came with. Certainly wont hurt getting a new one. I changed mine over the weekend. £40 for a new one

The battery was a new one in feb/mar this year and everything still lights up fine on the dash, the radio too, and nothing dims when turning the key all the way, i.e. like it struggling to power something. Could it be the key switch/barrel itself?
I have a multimeter but ain't no sparky, i have a vague jist if someone described a procedure to check something!! Beginning to fret now tho' as main stealers want approx £140 +VAT JUST to pick it up and tell me the reqults of the diag. So gone knows what they'll come out with if it's something serious.

deffinately ignition switch, get your hand up behind the column and give the white ciricular box at the end of the ignition barrel a wiggle, mine was faulty and had exactly the same symptoms, bitch to fix mind, steering column out job, wiggle sorted it for a short time mind
