HELP, mk3 2001 seat ibiza 20vt problem

hey guys i have a problem its on my 2001 mk3 ibiza cupra 20vt. the fuel gauge doesnt work, i plugged my vag com into it and went into instrument and got the gauges to move so im assuning their ok and it came up with a fault code when i tested it which was ....

00771 - Fuel Level Sensor (G)
00771 - Fuel Level Sensor (G): Open / Short Circuit to B+
Possible Symptoms
Fuel reserve displayed value 0 (empty)
Possible Causes
Wiring between Fuel Level Sensor (G) and Instrument Cluster: Open or Short Circuit
Possible Solutions
Check wiring between Fuel Level Sensor (G) and Instrument Cluster
Check Measuring Block Value




has anyone else had this problem by any chance and roughly where do i start looking, i checked the plug on the sender and was ok! and i also checked the plug in the back of the cluster, but if the gauges worked through vagcom im sure their fine. its starting to annoy me now lol help would be much appriciated cheers

oh and i would also like to knw as my temp gauge doesnt work, does the coolant temp sensor normally pack ur gauge up totally thanks guys!

You will need access to a wiring diagram and a multimeter. The problem would seem to be that the fuel sender signals are not reaching the instrument cluster. So, I'd be looking for a chaffed wire between the two.

ok thats sounds good, i fort there might have been a common fault that the clocks pack in cheers for ur advise is there anywhere i can get a wiring diagram from cheers
