Help - Major Issue for my 01 Cupra

Guys,

Apologies in advance as I'm one of those members who has little to offer in terms of tips/technical advice etc but soaks up all the useful comments so it's a bit of a one way deal.. And this post is more of the same I'm afraid

I've had the usual leaky footwell / huge amount of condensation on inside of windscreen & rear screen etc which has lead to the control module in the dash giving up, leaving me with no rev counter/speedo/temp gauge or fuel gauge. At first I was gutted but reading on here that others had experienced similar and got it sorted gave me some comfort. So was all set for it to go into the dealers this week when I saw the step-by-step guide on how to cure leaks and thought that even for a numpty like me, this should be straightforward. And so it was...until I came to get in the car and drive somewhere....NOTHING!

Now this could be the fact that I have been on borrowed time due to the console module issue but could I have :censored: it up when I sorted the front passenger door leak? I made sure all the connectors were back in place but I get nothing, just the battery light illuminating, followed by all the warning lights in the central display followed by nothing, not clicking, not anything. The radio doesn't work, it just says "SAFE" and although I got it to work again once by recoding, the next time I tried to start the car, it rest to "SAFE" and refuses to respond.

So, did I mess it up by the door fix (unlikely but a massive coincidence if not) or is it the console module finally dying and causing the car to be immobilised? And is there anyway to get it started again (impossible I'm sure!) or will I be looking at pick up costs from the dealer in addition to everything else?

Any help you could give would be great - not feeling too pleased with myself right now!

Cheers,

Jason

My god, sounds like a major electrical failure !

Water in the ECU ? Sounds like it :(

Could be a hefty bill at SEAT ... I'd speak to them, but don't book the car in yet, cos you might be better off getting a replacement ECU (and keys, clocks etc) from a breakers and getting an auto electrician to swap it all out for you

I had just phoned (Friday) to check about getting the console replaced at the local dealer (cost, how long I'd have to wait etc) but then the next day, it stops working.

Is it too much of a coincidence that it was still starting and working fine (apart from the clocks) until I tackled the door leak on the front passenger side? When I disconnected all the wires in the door, would this have caused this (can't see why it would based on the guide that was posted on here).

Am going to call the dealer today but it looks pretty depressing right now
