Real bad luck lately with the car... car died on me the other day just shut down all led to throttle body... replaced and set up still the same... went to my local specailist centre they say the AZD and other engines are prone to burnt valves and seals about 70k causeing back pressures and making the engine run poor (any one had this?) what i was wondering was is this a big job to do? and expensive?

Any body took their head off? any guides Diy floating?

I assume ill need new gaskets, The valves seats grinding or new? belt (might as well) and bolts

What worries me it the timing where can i get data? torque settings etc...

Can afford the garage route...:cry::cry::cry:

Any hepl would be great...

Thanks

I know this was a while ago but any information you could give would be really useful. I am doing the same job on the same engine. I started another thread but was hoping you could give me some specific info from experience http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=384153

Length of Ribe tool?

Torque settings?

Anything else that is worth knowing?

It's on an '04 1.6 S 16v DOHC. Not sure exactly which engine it is though, the manual reckons it's a D3H?

Hi mate,

In the end mine turned out to be EGR for the 5th time! Good old euro car parts swapped it every time :D kept burning its self dead! So bloody dangerous if you ask me 1/2 pulled out on an island and car died would not even start to move it.

Head wise is pretty much remove untill your there (obv mark timing points etc...) did the belt on mine as the plastic tensioner failed easy but nerve racking..... after that we parted company and hello LCR :D

Haynes golf manual helped but auto data and mate garage had a belt book etc... also worth a lookski!

Not much help on here for the 1.6 16v i found (my advice is either buy a new lump and 100 EGR valves if you keep the car or new motor time)

Sorry i cant help any more :blink:
