This happened to me the other day, red light on fob still worked.
Checked all fuses and they were ok. read on here about reprogramming fob and hey presto it worked.

goes something like

turn ignition on and off
hold lock button and press unlock 3 times (doors should try and lock)
turn on ignition and off
try fob

Could even be hold unlock button and press lock 3 times.
The above is what I remember, if it doesn't work just search, thats where I got the sequence from.

make sure the red light still flashes, if not you need a new key fob.

to reprogram is basically is as above.
Sit in car
Turn ignition on and off within 1 second
pull key out of ignition
within 2 seconds hold down lock key and press unlock key 3 times.
car should lock itself then unlock itself.
open up car door, get out, shut car door. walk away and lock :)

if it does not work, you can buy ones off ebay for a fraction of the price. i brought mine for £5 because some person put it in the wrong section of ebay so no one saw it :D

Just wanted to say that i have had the central locking issue with my car since owned, i finially went and did something bout it, got new batteries, searched on here and found this guide and, wow!! it works, so whoever post the orginal or this one thanks very much! No more embarassment with putting the key in the handle

The stupid guide that i got with the car says leave it for 5 seconds when first turning the ignition but that does not work!

its even better when at a meet you can reprogram other peoples cars to your fob, so unlocking your car will send the whole lot of cars unlocking

Will this help at all if its the "LOCKING" button that is playing up ?
The unlocking button is fine but its just the lower one sometimes doesnt lock. You would maybe have to press it 3 or 7 times

ignition my friend... (electrics)

if i meant start the car i would have said .. start the car.

Key in ignition
turn 2 clicks (just so the dash lights up)
turn ignition off
key out
press and hold 1 button whilst pressing the other.. e.g. hold lock and press unlock 3 times.
